AK is killing my internet connection more and more often...

Its probably not missing much, other than the search and delete, which everyone is having issues with, issues "seem" to be limited to those resisting change. Just because someone prefers old OS's is not a sites problem as the world "upgrades" around them they either upgrade or get left behind. As a layman and far from tech savoy (software side) its very easy to see, I seen to remember boxes of software having "system requirement's" on them, once your system does not meet the sites new requirements, well...
Seems pretty easy when applying some common sense instead of stubbornness :dunno:
 
FWIW, I run a kept updated Win 10, & use MS`s Edge, and have all it`s available privacy settings maxed out, plus I only run all my internet use through its own InPrivate VPN on this close to 10 yr. old Gateway laptop.

And for whatever reason, I`ve encountered Zero issues, except when there`s server upgrade issues, with this site, though I sometimes get scolded (or am even refused entry) about my restrictive blocking of third party cookie, ad blocking, and tracking settings when somebody posts a link to somewhere else, with that site demanding that I open my browser`s security fly and let them in to snoop, and track, and that indicates to me to just close out that site, as I deem the site`s restriction demands isn`t worth my time or privacy mindset.

So far, no problems of any sort with my use of A/K, and no bothersome and distractive ads for products/services that I will never, ever need or desire !

Christoph, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Having something not work properly can be frustrating. I'm sure all of the AK community would like everything to run perfectly.

My Friend no apologies are needed, I know how much enjoyment you and a whole lot of the rest of us get from AK, and I totally understand the frustration of having something you do for fun end up becoming frustrating instead of enjoyable. On the bright side, I'll share that using the internet doesn't cause me nearly the same frustration as creating a smoking hole in the ground with a brand new $2000 remote controlled model airplane does, so see, there's a great reason for optimism right there :rflmao:

I posted earlier today re; accessing AK via iPhone, which I rarely do, and having no problems. I hadn't done it in months if not a year so I tried it earlier and have no issues whatsoever with ad's.

My guess is this is NOT an AK or Phone issue but settings in members web browser

Fwiw these are my current iPhone settings in Firefox Daylight 40.1 (7037)

Under "Settings" in the "General" section

I have "Block Pop-up Windows" enabled or on

Under "Settings" in the "Privacy" section, there is "Tracking Protection >" when I tap on that I'm brought to (see below)

"Enhanced Tracking Protection" ("reduces targeted ads and helps stop advertisers from tracking your browsing") enabled or on

^ Under ETP there is a section called "Protection Level" which gives you 2 options

"Standard (default)" and "Strict"

I have "Strict" enabled or on and it describes the following "Blocks more trackers, ads, and popups. Pages load faster, but some functionality may not work"

So this took me awhile to figure out theses current settings, if I can do it I'm sure others here can do it to.

From what I can tell I do not have an adblocker just the settings in FF I mentioned above

Here's hoping this can help someone

I really appreciate taking the time to post your procedure. I consider myself tech challenged but I tried to use your recipe.
I have an iPhone 7 and under settings there's no Privacy or Block Pop-up Windows selection. The only tracking selection is for apps, which is turned off. No Protection level either.
It says my software version is 15.7.5
I'm a caveman when it comes to such matters so it's going to be a frustrating time walking me through changes. I can live with it because I seldom use my phone for web browsing, but when I do I typically don't have an issue with tons of ads.
Thanks again. It looks like the new format has some backdoors that have been left open and I know the staff is working on it.

It`s become your "Personal internet Billboard", as was intentionally setup many yrs. ago, that`s why you can`t thwart or control that aspect !
And you pay good money for that stellar invasive privilege !

The settings I mentioned were for the Firefox Browser which you access via the browser itself not the phone's settings.

Prior to posting that info I did check the phones actual settings but nothing jumped out at me with regards to how or what settings would affect internet browsing.

As I typed the above I decided to double check and I did see this though I'm not sure if it helps or not guess is it wouldn't hurt to disable

Settings > Firefox > Allow Cross-Website Tracking, I have this disabled and again this might not be pertinent to your situation if you're not using Firefox

If I can be of service let me know what browser you're using on your iPhone and I'll see if I can figure out settings for that.

If I'm not mistaken ALL iPhones come with Safari already preloaded and defaulted as the primary browser.

I chose to download (free of charge) Firefox because It works very well for me on my MacBook with regards to accessing AK and other websites
