Album Covers - Beyond the Norm

I have an ELO (I think) album with a strange sci-fi punch-out thing inside. As the disc needs a serious cleaning, I've never really looked to hard at the insert.

got this a few days ago...originally came with 3D glasses, but mine didn't. So I put a pair in the sleeve that came with the Part 3 dvd.

3D works pretty well on the actual LP, not sure if it will with this pic.

Michael Schenker - Built to destroy This is first example I saw of a photo wrapping around to include multiple instances of the same person. Not impressive today but it does pre-date Photoshop by a decade and a half.

Coincidentally... Oh No It's Devo, today’s thrift store vinyl score.

My copy of Black Moses on the Enterprise label doesn't open like that.It slips in the top though.:scratch2:
 
Jimmie Haskell - California 99: cover folds out into a futuristic map of California. Very trippy seventies concept album.

The Mamas & The Papas - 16 Of Their Greatest Hits: die-cut easel on back so it stands up like the Devo album previously mentioned.

John & Yoko - Two Virgins: brown wrapper added to cover to conceal nudity (thank god better heads prevailed!).

Three Dog Night - Naturally: front cover is perforated along the spine so that it may be removed and folded out to make a mini poster.

Three Dog Night - Hard Labor: second issue has a large band-aid over the alien giving birth and front cover has a manila file folder attached. Manila file folder is perforated along the spine so that it may be removed. Inside gate fold cover has the band pulling back a white sheet to reveal the actual record label.
 
I don't think Jefferson Airplane's "Long John Silver" album (1972) has been mentioned yet. I have a near mint copy, but I don't have any photo's of it yet.

When you lifted the "Cigars" out of the "Humidor" there is Marijuana hidden underneath. :yes: I can't find the marijuana picture online. :no:

It is a very thought out and unique cover that is "Beyond the norm"!:thmbsp:

John Lennon's "Walls & Bridges" had foldable flaps that you could use to alter the picture of him.
The Stones' "Dirty Work" LP had a red translucent sleeve covering the album you could use on the inner sleeve to change it's appearance.
 
There was an Arthur Fielder/Boston Pops LP that came with an extra-thick cover. A slot was cut from the lower left to the upper right, and in that slot was.....a conductor's baton! Yes, please conduct along with Arthur Fiedler.

I have the LP, the the baton was lost. They don't really get much additional for copies that still have the baton.
