Anyone near Westchester NY? Sony SS-M7's

I've seen the insides of these babies and they are a work of art. Maybe not a screamin' deal but a real bargain. You couldn't build something similar for three times that much. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony sold that line at a loss, as the cabinet construction is mind boggling.

love how they put "town" of newburgh. there could be free lascala's and I wouldn't even attempt it if they were in the city. well, maybe I would.

Why? Is it a bad part of town? I thought Westchester was where the rich folks live.

Well, there are certainly pockets of affluence in Westchester County, but Newburgh may not be considered one of them. Its at the intersection of I84 and I87, so theres a certain level of weirdness that may accompany that.
Regardless, I've never had any problems there or anywhere else thats had a questionable rep, and I've been in some crazy places.

Are the 7's biggest in the Line, or is there a 9?

They made a 9, and they are insane. Better built with better stuff inside than many of today's $100,000 plus speakers. I don't think you'll see a pair for anywhere near $300.

Hard to believe that the SS-M7's would be offered for sale for $300.

This is Stereophile writer Barry Willis's description of the SS-M7's:

What we heard was gorgeous, absolutely beautiful: rich, warm, and deep, with a seductive midrange, a shimmering, delicate, grain-free top-end, and a soundstage to die for," ...... "WATT/Puppy performance is now available at Vandersteen prices in an American-made loudspeaker sporting a Japanese badge."

:lurk:

I would guess that if a pair ever did show up they would be in the 700-1200 range but what do I know. They never pop up to get a reference price.
Sure would like to someday own a pair...........
Bueller......Bueller.........
Anyone on the left coast have a pair that are just layin' around they aren't using please let me know.:D

Just saw this so I guess I was a bit off.
