Are you jealous of good looking people?

don't know....I am a handsome man :D

meh... i don't know I'm pretty comfortable in my own skin you know what I mean, I don't worry about it too much.

"I am not an animal! I am a human being! I am a man!"
(but personally I'm still unsure if being a human being is such a good thing)

If the original question is whether I am jealous of those more attractive than I am or was, that's quite different from whether or not I was envious of the same. Jealousy insinuates disliking or negative feeling toward the object; i.e. "I hate you for looking better", but envy suggests a more positive "I wish I could be like that" feeling. I don't form a disliking, and certainly not hatred, for anyone unless they do evil to me or to society. But I do have to admit that I was envious of men more physically fit than I have been in the past, and I did something about it to turn the tables. I do brag at times about what I've made of my fitness level (and the "sixpack" abs that come with it) , but let me assure anyone who might be envious of me, it's not easy, and it could go away in a few weeks now at age 46 if I don't keep the dedication up.

According to some recent german study, the uglier the man, the more chances he thinks he has of being successful at seducing the most beautiful woman, for example, when he walks into a club, bar or any other social gathering.

Not based on that study, but I do not think that many men would think like that........

Pornography probably plays a roll in their way of thinking, they are used to having whichever woman they want.

G'day all, yes this is a strange question, but I've just had a long and insightful meditation session and sometimes these kinds of questions pop up in my head!

I do frequently ponder on this as I do know people, both men and women who are close to physically perfect in appearance, but does it matter?

I guess that I do occasionally feel jealous for various reasons yet when one thinks about it, it is only 'appearance'. How deep is that? :scratch2:

It is a fact that despite the 'modern' perception that 'appearance' no longer matters, I think it still does in many situations! I think we all know that.

I guess there are advantages to being 'good looking', and I can think of a few right now. Job promotion and advancement, social success and whatever. Maybe and maybe not. Is jealousy a natural human reaction? I don't know.

Admittedly, due to my tenous health situation I've been forced to adopt such things as regular daily exercise and good nutrition and I do look better for it but I can't say that I've 'taken advantage' of my improved appearance in the way that others might... that's just not my way! Too heavy and deep for discussion? Sorry if it is. Regards, Felix aka catman.

Cat Man,you're okay fella! Now in today's modern enlightenment age "Good Looks" do matter it seems especially in the Music/Country of the last 20 yrs or so.Why even ole Waylon Jennings said somewhere "He wasn't pretty or good looking enough to be a big star these days"! And he might have been right because in Waylon's time and mine as well People loved the Music/Song and made them hits and couldn't care less about how the Artists looked like but then I guess it changed with Videos and although many Tunes were/are good it became in reality mostly about cosmetics and appearances!:):thmbsp: P/S My answer to your original question is NO I am no jealous of anyone else especially on looks only because I have always been content with how I looked as well as felt, thank you:)

So long as I am considered prettier than KeninDC and GrillBilly, everything is hunky dory.

I must say Felix, your pontifications run the gamut. You leave no stone unturned regarding the human condition.

I am not. Although I would swap places with Mike Roe in a second. Not so much out of jealousy, out of admiration of who he is. All in all, I'm happy with being me.

I do have a buddy, best friend actually, who gets extremely jealous of 'perfect' people. He won't watch a lot of shows because "The people are too good looking. That doesn't happen in real life." and he hates Tom Brady because "Nobody should be that good looking and successful. He gets all the press and the rest of the team gets nothing because he is the pretty one." It's almost comical. He will swear he isn't jealous but it is painfully obvious that he is.

one of my favorite things to do

partly because one woman is PLENTY (just kidding mrs atarione) and partly because it is

if I see woman that are hawt but that clearly are weeeeellll aware of this fact.... ignore them don't check em out at all ... walk by them without looking really at all.

It pretty clearly in my experience (i have done this since i was a young man... mainly cause i like girl next door types anyways)... drives these types of women kinda nutz... it is HILARIOUS... try it... if you are a girl (there are girls here right?????) =p try it with dudes that think they are all that...NAMELY OF COURSE ...ME... oh wait.

I'd rather be a 10 than a 6.5. But, I married a bona fide beauty pageant winner and I'd rather be a 6.5 married to a 10 than the other way around. This may me the dumbest thing I've ever posted but I'm secure in my stupidity as well as my looks.

Sometimes I feel a little sorry for all those beneath me who have been badly beaten with the ugly stick, but then I have a look in a mirror and I feel much better.

Hell no, Catman. Never given it a thought.

Although sometimes when I see a real ugly dude in ill-fitting threads with a goodlooking gal, I sometimes think to myself "What does she see in him?"

I do have suits and other gentlemen's apparel bought from "name" gent's outfitters but can't recall the last time I wore a suit 'n tie and NEVER got the once over from a pretty woman when I was all toffed-up.

There is however a curious exception when I get lovely smiles and "hello's" from pretty young females...

When I work in my garden or do maintenance on my cars, I am often scruffy, wearing oilsoaked and torn or burned overalls, cracked Merrells with unkempt hair and unshaven - I DO get noticed and lovely smiles and greets from the gals. How does this work??

G'day all. Good morning from here. Maybe it's just not 'appearance'. I've always had an unusual gait that is part of the Aspergers Syndrome 'physical clumsiness' aspect, made worse in recent years (since 1988), by my permanent spinal cord injury and I've often noticed that people tend to look at me strangely due to the way that I walk.

That leads to the conclusion that 'there is something wrong with him... he's different.' Yes that happens. For me sometimes I find a strong confident walk is attractive and exudes power, confidence and strength. The so called 'models walk' is an example of this. Interesting isn't it? Regards, Felix aka catman.

All looks fade with time. I'm not bothered, not bad looking, plus I've been married since 2004 so it's kind of a moot point.

Jealousy is a symptom of neurotic insecurity.
That's pretty harsh and given the context, insensitive.

While it can be a symptom of neurotic insecurity, few people who feel jealousy can be regarded as neurotic. Jealousy is regarded as a universal human emotion.
