Audio/Record shops in Phoenix/Tucson area?

Hello AKers,

Any suggestions on good record shops or hifi stores in the Phoenix or Tuscon area?

Will be there on a short trip and would appreciate any advice.

In Phoenix by far the best record store is Revolver Records. They have a great selection of hard to find rock, jazz or just about anything.

For Vintage Audio you can check out Audio Video Choices. They have a small store crammed with all kinds of gear.

There's also Zia Records, which has stores all over the valley, and Trax in Wax on Central and Camelback (close to downtown). The latter prices their vinyl rather high, and the owner can be a curmudgeon, but the selection is very good.

Well, I managed to go by one Zia records in Tucson, did not find anything of interest.

Today I went to Revolver, and found some stuff to take away. Couple new, the rest used. Definitely better prices than at home.

I hit the local Zia Records and when I am in the East Valley I hit up Rockzone Records

I go to Twist and Shout on E Speedway whenever I get out to Tucson. I have always found something interesting there.

For Vintage Audio you can check out Audio Video Choices. They have a small store crammed with all kinds of gear.

AV Choices is a great shop, I bought my Martin Logan Aerius i speakers there a couple of years ago. Great staff, not too 'snobbish'.

Another place to check out for gear (sometimes, their selection seems to change frequently) is DynaTronics, off 16th & Maryland (I think). I had my Marantz receiver serviced there & when I picked it up there was a McIntosh amp on a shelf for a cheap price. Still kicking myself for not picking it up on the spot.

Wish I still lived in AZ, but we got transferred to Missouri (Misery) last summer.

The entire store is on Craigslist for sale @ 60k. The ad is still up I believe.

I agree with AV Choices. The guys at Dynatronics gave me a tour of the shop one time. A lot of cool stuff back there. Sorry to here about Missouri. My allergy would kill me there.

I also picked up a number of albums (and a few other things like books & DVDs) at Bookmans. They have 2 locations in the Phoenix area, one in Mesa and the other in N. Phoenix I believe. It's almost like a 'Half Price Books' but with a much larger selection of other items including used electronics & video games & movies & music.

Almost all of the vinyl I purchased from there have been in really good condition as well.

I did not know this, and I live here..LOL. I have been going to Zia most of the time.
