Had one of those. OMFG! Shook the whole house.
Sunfire truesub are impressive.
M&K make some nice ones.
Martin Logan are nice.
Sonance and Tru made decent stuff.
Velodyne mad good stuff.
Got a B&W now, too big to use right now but tested it in the Garage and it was impressive.
I see a LOT of Polk and Boston Acoustic and other cheap consumer level stuff. They are nothing to even consider. They do the job but they are light weight.
Personally, after playing with many many subs, I don’t get excited about them and only use them for movies effects.
I see a lot of broken ones. Amps in boxes overheating seems to be the design flaw. Maybe they have been used too hard. The amps burn up or other electronic fails. The drivers are almost always good. The foam surround ones have bad foam like regular speakers so getting rubber surround type is probably the way to go.
Sunfire Signature modified by removing the plate from the cabinet. Extremely flat and keeps up with anything you could want to listen too in a home environment. Has absolutely no problem keeping up with three JBL L300s, two JBL 18"/10"/Heils, and four JBL "reduced volume 4430s with W10GTi woofers" (used for surround) all at once!
Gotta pull the guts from the cabinet or they will self destruct. Mine was repaired twice before I did this and hasn't had a problem since..., and it's been many years now.

I have dual SVS subs, but mine are the sealed-box version the SB12-NSD which they closed out at $399 a year, or so, ago, and were very good value for the outlay. Really love mine, and like that they are compact in size.
Have also owned some other brands, including those huge Klipsch now current - sold it with the Khorns. Have also owned Paradigm, Polk, and, long ago, Velodyne and Phase Tech models, but never the TOTL. These SVS do it for me.
How did you find svs so cheap ? What’ a Steal !!
My current subwoofer Si ht 15” rattles the house . Good sound quality too sealed .
Could use some cleaning too!!

Plenty of bas for a 12” x 12” room probably like work for a room twice that size .

Like I said, they were close-outs about a year ago. When you went to the SVS site, they sent you to Amazon for the discontinued price.

LOL well for whatever reason I seem to have no shortage of assorted Sub Woofers, big and small. Well I suppose these days "big" is relative?? So 12 inches max for me so far. I have an MK Miller sub that needs work, I did not get the satellites with them however. 
And doing daily duty in a HT rig for uh years is a Definitive Technology, 12 inch powered sub. I had a cold solder joint in one time about eight years ago??? Not really sure how I found it ( the issue) but I did ... fixed it and it's been fine ever since! The M&K fix ... not so easy?? It's in the Barn but I'll get to it one day.
But blast from the pass as it were, now considered "Vintage" I would suppose but I call it old stuff I have from High School! 1973 a Visonic Sub One. Rubber Surround, 12 inch woofer in an acoustic enclosure. 50 watts minum so yeah not particularly "efficient!"
But at the time I drove it with a Philips, 210 watt per channel power amp ... so not a problem.
The Amp was "stolen/loss." And the Orthophone Speakers ...yep the cartridge guys! My freaking brothers "Blew up" somehow!!!!!
But I still have the Sub One! And it still works!!! So 45 years!!! And no issues ... that is how they ... use to make stuff!!!
Now I suppose ... most likely by "now" a recap would prove useful??? Back in the day "reliability" like that ... was "expected!" But these days "BPC" crap one is lucky if it last thru they warranty period???
When the century turned over "reliability and quality" said see ya!!! 2000 to 3000 grand for a HT 11. whatever rig, ... good luck with that.

There's no replacement for displacement. Stereo Integrity 24 inch diameter, 5 inches peak to peak travel, audiophile sound quality, no need for electrically reducing the output of low frequencies because of possible damage to the driver, it takes (7) 18" drivers to match the output of this one, proven output down to 3hz.
Yea, who makes that beast? Or is it a DIY?

Made his awesome and wonderful 18in velodyne sound like a 5in dime store woofer the ability to pressurize the room is enormous...
Velodyne could not pressurize the room even if it had a twin.
The monstrous 8in external voice coil design is revolutionary with the SVS
You could spend three times as much on any other high-end subwoofer and I highly doubt this kind of performance level can be reached, everything else has old-fashioned voice coil engineering this new type of voice coil in the SVS is a game changer
