Biggest Marantz?

Sorry, I did not read "receivers" in the query. As for receivers only, my comments above still stand. The 2500 and 2600 are nice and big but from quality and sound my hat is with the 18 and then 19. These were the no holds barred receivers from the engineering team that made Marantz what it was at its height and marketing hype such as the power wars was not a consideration.

When we had the 2600 and 2500 in the stores we also had a used 19 next to them to show the parentage but most learned listeners preferred the 19 that was not for sale.

Yeah, you'd have all your bases covered plus the on deck circle.

As to which of those bases I think is/are the best, I'm with Brian...I think the 18 and 19 are the ones and if I had to choose just one, then the 19 but that's today, tomorrow might be the 18.

I'm adhering to the "receiver" part, meaning a unit that has an amp, preamp and tuner in one chassis. The 18 and 19 both have a nice pedigree. The 18 has the 15/7t/20 combo (amp/pre/tuner) inside and the 19 has the 16/33/20b in it. Those tuners alone are top tier even by todays standards and the amp/pre parts were TOTL at the time and that's why I rate these receivers as not only Marantz''s best but arguably the best ever.
