You probably came here from the link in my signature which I move around from time to time.
I’ve been doing this for about a year now, so there’s a lot in the past if you want to go back and look.
Please feel free to comment on any of it. I often feel like I’m just doing this for myself (which would be OK).
Thanks for looking.
Rock on! (or don’t)

Marc Ribot and the Prosthetic Cubans. (HDCD) (Marc Ribot has done a lot of guitar work with Tom Waits.)

The Police - Ghost in the Machine (lp) I remember getting this album from Columbia Record club (or whatever it was called) when it came out. I has disdain for it at the time; though it was noting more than a shallow pop album. I've been enjoying it this week however.

Rage Against the Machine (cd)

Brett a · Jun 28, 2013

I dug this old cassette out of the barn. It's 45 minutes of a band I used to sit in with often in the early 90's, The Glenlivet Band - O'Shelil's Pub, Lewiston, ME . 9-28-92 They were quite good for a local bar/cover band. Very good musicianship.

Rage against the Machine - Evil Empire (cd) Listening to this again after a long time, I still can't figure out why anyone would need anything more than their first S/T album. This one pales by comparison.

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure (HDCD)

Brett a · Jun 28, 2013

Nazareth - Hair of the Dog. (cd)

Another blast from my past Brand New Heavies - Brother Sister I just got this copy after going without for 15+ years. Still as good as ever!

This is my neighbordog, Hopi and her favorite thing in the whole world (a stick)

Have ya'll heard of Kaki King? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbELmLNj-BY
I hadn't. But discovered her cd "Junior" in the CD player of my mother-in-law's Passat. I figure it was left there by her son. Good stuff.

Heather Maloney - Heather Maloney

Heather is a friend of mine. It's nice to see her career take off. I've known her since before she had the idea to even write songs.

Here's some recent press she's gotten:

A recent article on FolkRadio UK:
http://www.folkradio.co.uk/2013/06/heather-maloney-heather-maloney/

From her website:

“Her music is riveting, her voice adventurous, her lyrics thought-provoking… Maloney’s expansive range can handle Ella Fitzgerald-style jazz scat and adapt to Beatlesque pop or Joni Mitchell folk…” No Depression

“Terrific… Maloney’s lyrics cut to the chase” Huffington Post

“But her not-so-secret weapon is that voice — pretty but not precious, fully able to launch into aural backflips but perhaps more affecting when intimately expressive.” Boston Globe

“The Heather Maloney is my favourite record of the last decade.” Rene Engel, KCBX

“Heather Maloney is one of the most talented tradition-based (as in the traditions of white ‘50s folk music through those of mid-late ‘90s acoustic-based coffeehouse heroes and heroines) singer-songwriters I’ve heard in some time” BLURT Magazine

“This record proves that Maloney is a talent to watch…lovely, soulful songs.” PopMatters

“Maloney’s Signature Sounds debut is a treasure trove of self and collective discovery.” FAME

“Extremely talented song writer and incredibly great singer.” Jonny Lang, Grammy Award winner

“Richly orchestrated post-coffeeshop pop held together by pipes and lyrics well beyond her years. Portland Pheonix, Portland ME

“You can hear that it comes from the soul– none of it reeks of contrivance, not even for a minute.” The Valley Advocate, Northampton MA

“This album is incredible, I’m blown away.” Jason Moberg, WUMB Boston Radio

“Her songs are personal. Her passion is contagious. Her lyrics go beyond surface level and penetrate the core of humanity that we all try so hard to embrace, yet at the same time, ignore.” Times of Trenton, Trenton NJ

“Definitely deserves to be recognized.” Unveiled Arts, NYC

Iggy Pop - Lust for Life (worth a million in prizes)

Dead Reckoning (HDCD)

The Mekons - I Have Been to heaven and Back (cd)

TIME/LIFE Presents...The Sounds of the Seventies: 1978 (cd) These discs are really fun and usually cheap to buy. The SQ is top notch as well!

Brett a · Jul 8, 2013

Greateful Dead - Fillmore East April 29th, 1971. Legally downloaded lossless soundboard bootleg. I know outtakes from these shows have been released on a multi-disc set (I have it, but forgot what it's called) but this whole show is spine-tingling from start to finish!

Leonard Cohen - Live

Mekons - OOOH (Out of Our Heads)
It's hard to believe how good the Mekons are and how unknown they remain after 30+ years.
