Brrr, Winter New England AK FrankenFest get together - SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28TH

We'll have to see what the lot conditions are. I'll call Frank this week.
We should plan on leaving the area between the loading dock and the street clear.
Beyond the loading dock (to the dumpster) is fair game but most folks should plan on parking in the lot to the rear.

I assume that there will be piles of snow in the way - just be extra courteous.

Can anybody local to Clinton post a pic of what the driveway looks like currently?:scratch2:

Don't worry Frank's got it under control, there he is on top, lol. Just kidding of course. What's sad is that pic is from the Boston Globe a week ago.

I just talked to our gracious host Frank - he said that the parking lot is basically clear but we'd like to keep the first 3 parking spots between the loading dock and the street open for loading & unloading.

Please don't park in the lot across the street - use the one around back or between the loading dock and the dumpster.

Spread the word to any of your non-AK audio friends to come on down.

We're good-to-go!!

MAN'S VOICE
The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only, there is no stopping in the red zone.

NO! The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading and there is no stopping in the red zone.

MAN'S VOICE
The red zone has always been for loading and unloading there is never stopping in a white zone.

LADY'S VOICE
Don't tell me which zone is for stopping and which zone is for loading.

MAN'S VOICE
Listen Betty, don't start up with your white zone **** again!

MAN'S VOICE
There's just no stopping in a white zone.

LADY'S VOICE
Oh really, Vernon, why pretend, we both know perfectly well what it is you're talking about. You want me to have an abortion.

MAN'S VOICE
Its really the only sensible thing to do. If its done properly, therapeutically, there's no danger involved.

And of course this is schedualed when I will be at another even. In Cambridge no less! If I get some time I may drop by, but it is unlikely.

The lot is adequately cleared IMO

Hi Glenn -

I am still planning to come up (snow permitting - ) I can bring a cheap Dual TT with a standalone Booze-Hound lab phono pre (Soiled State) and a single play CDP, but if you are planning on any of that we could coordinate & leave more room ?

Just a thought.

Hi China,

I'm planning on bringing the AR-3's, my A-X9 amp and EQ, and my iPod. Your TT & CDP would be great.

Glenn

I hope it is okay to post here too (I posted on the members section):

I need Pony Express from the event to NJ (Madison 07940 is where I live but anywhere in this dirtection works). Picking up a set of bookshelf speakers with stands from an AK member.

PM me if you can help; thanks.

Not bad at all!

As I pointed out to Jim in our telcon, the lot is as you would expect it.
Astonishingly, modern plow equipment and methods have propagated out from the urban core and are now employed by those of us living in the backwoods.

Seriously, I despair for all of us. It's winter, it snows; sometimes more sometimes less. Get on with it.

See you Saturday.

Looks better than some Boston roads, How many horses did it take to clear it?
My chickens managed to clear out a sunny patch, but the ducks are in hiding....

That said, if I hear anyone say that Global Warming is a myth because of all this snow, I will punch them in the teeth. Just sayin. :smoke:

Is it worth bringing my Marantz 2270? I was listening to a record the other day and the left channel completely cut out. I fiddled with the volume knob and the sound instantly came back. It doesn't seem to happen right away either when the receiver is turned on.

Not really sure what's going on. I've had this happen on other inputs too, but the sound quality usually degrades first.

If someone could take a look at the event that would be rad. I am not really that comfortable opening up the receiver and trying to fiddle with things.

Sounds like you've got some dirty controls. Little deoxit treatment is in order. Bring a can and a phillips screwdriver and I can help you out. Can be picked up at most chain guitar stores, Sam Ash, guitar center, etc.
