Brrr, Winter New England AK FrankenFest get together - SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28TH

I should have mentioned, the spaces available are the same as last time.

Big room next to the shop.
Room and hallway upstairs.

A request: If anyone has a DB-15 male connector you could spare or sell I could use one. Solder cup is best but I'll be happy with anything.
I'm doing some reverse engineering with a touch probe and using Markus clips on paper clip pins. It's a little delicate, and noisy.

Shop is nice and spiffy as it gets. I slaved away thinking the fest was tomorrow, and when warning a fellow tenant she told me it was Thursday. I'm a day ahead!
I need to get out more.

Thanks, Frank C.

Db-15

I am planning to attend. I have not attended before.

I have a spare male DB-15 soldercup connector I will bring along. Also have a clam shell cover if desired.

Hey watch it Tim! I don't think I own a bowling shirt. You gonna be there so I can buy more Zep vinyl?

The other question....will Tim offer beer w/purchase? I'm looking forward to saying hi, and swapping winter stories!

Dual 1229 and food question!

Hi folks,

Diane and I will be attending and am wondering if there will be workshops like last time? Specifically I have a Dual 1229 that I acquired some time ago from a guy who was selling his Dad's old equipment. It was shipped from overseas back in the 80's and has been in the original box since then. All the parts seem to be there, but I am told it is set up currently for European line voltage and needs to be changed for US. Also have not dug in at all to clean, lube etc... since the acquisition. Will anyone be present that would be able to perform these tasks?

Here is a link to a thread I did when acquiring the piece with pics.

Also would like to bring something to share with everybody. is anyone coordinating the food that will be present and what is lacking that we could bring?

We don't have any workshops planned for this event.
And no coordination for food - it always seems to work out and folks rarely starve!

I don't know if anyone will be able to help you with the Dual.
If you bring the instructions I'm sure I could change the voltage and HZ settings if it's just a wiring issue (versus needing a different size pulley or something).

Haha, that makes two of us Chuck! My dad and his buddy are coming along with me. Will have to haze the newbies! See ya tomorrow.

Folks, I have a very unusual favor to ask.
After spending 6 years in US Navy my son is finally coming home.
His military profession was fire controlman working on Navy radar systems.
He also got A+ and N+ certificates. Goes without saying: he is loking for a job.
If someone have any leeds any help will be really appreciated.
Who can help a veteran?

Thanks

Could also be bad contacts on the speaker relay.

True, I just don't want to start fiddling with it myself because I have no experience with these things. If it can be looked at by someone tomorrow that would be awesome. I don't want to bother anyone, heh.

Thanks in advance! Radioshack won't answer their damn phones so I may end up going to Guitar Center in Millbury tonight to pick up some Deoxit (I called and confirmed they have it on hand). I did not realize how expensive this stuff is.

I believe Wiktor Amps said he would be there tomorrow. He works on Marantz vintage audio out of Waltham. :D

Damn this would look so sexy on the 2270:

$289 though, damn.

This thread has had about 5600 views - I suspect we'll get a good turnout.

Now, less posting and more car packing!
