CA-F1 hook up to AU-919?

Power down and unplug both units.
First and foremost, was the CA-F1 tested and properly working before you obtained it? If so, here is what I remember off the top of my head.
On the back of your AU-919 set the switch to the right to *** "separated". Then run your inputs (sources) through your CA-F1 and then run the output of your CA-F1 to the power amp "in" on your AU-919. Now you'll be feeding the amplifier section of the AU-919 from your new CA-F1.
*** You can use use either direct coupled or capacitor coupled option based on the position of the "connected/separated" switch. I'd start in the same mode that you were using before.

Jeffe is right on. In the three-way switch in the back, "cap coupled" and "direct coupled" are the two options for using it "separated," as you will be. For me the "cap coupled" option changes the output DC offset by quite a bit. You really don't need it if you're certain that the CA-F1 is not putting out any DC. Using the "direct coupled" option is best if you can do it, since it has no input capacitor. Test the preamp first, though, to be certain.
