Calling All Yamahas. Time to Post Your Pics

Saw a pair of 901 speakers at a garage sale for $200. Jumped on the deal, but the guy said I had to take the whole system, which included these B-2X and C-2X units.
Two of Yamaha's best for $200. Can't beat that. :thmbsp: Welcome to AK!

mpholland,
Very cool and great score. Now sell the 901s and get some really good speakers! Just kidding.

Welcome to AK.

I guess you weren't happy with the sound of the B-2X and C-2X, because they're now on eBay?

:scratch2:

Well who knows, maybe the money from the sell of the used Yamaha's can pay him a brand new set of Bose 901's. Wonder if he knew what he had.

Just a little update,

Yes, the Yamaha's did almost make enough money to buy the pure man a new set of Bose 901's. The price for a set is $1.199,00 and the Yammi’s gave $1.090,00 used!

I still wonder :scratch2:

Take a look on my partly refurbished B-1 !

At the moment only two things are missing: two 2SK77 V-Fets !
Yes I know, I´ll never find ones, but I am on the way to solve the problem in my way:

I developed a hybrid circuit, which can be housed in a 2SK77 style package.
The computer simulations and the first measurements of the virtual V-Fet are very promising.

Take a look on the appended graph, it shows the characteristics of such a perfect, "cold triode", which is matched to the bahaviour of the 2SK77.

I´ll post more on a dedicated post, if I have the first results.

No, No, never !
I already invested about 40 inefficient hours into that piece.

So far every other V-Fet looks good, but there is still a bug in both driver boards, or a bug in the design, who knows ...

Anders:

If it doesn´t work you should sell your´s to me !!! :D
The B-I service manual I sent to you is full of bugs ! Be careful !
I never saw such a trashy service manual. If you simply follow the service guidelines, you might destroy the unit or simply fail, adjusting some parameters, because you find later, that you are not able to measure them, like described.

Seeing this thread makes me REALLY miss my powerful & almighty CT-7000. I had to sell it a few years ago to feed the divorce/custody lawyers. :thumbsdn: What pics I had of it are lost.

For me it was the King O' Tuna's.

Yep, sure is. I actually liked it better with the door open, so thx for the pic!

As far as the aesthetic of the vintage units, I think Yamaha was nicest, (well - tied with Harman/Kardon for the top spot). Marantz maybe 3rd.

I still have a pic I snagged from another site that really...I try not to look at too often!

Since I lost all of my pics on this server a few months ago, here are my Yammies:

CR-800, Merrylandered with Santos Rosewood veneer (since sold to a good friend who went gaga over it along with a sweet re-capped pair of EPI 100):

CR-1020 bought for $50 (after seller refunded half) Although she has fresh bulbs, she won't come out of protection and will one day make the trip to Rob:

My main tuner as it sits in my main rack, a T-1:
