Calling All Yamahas. Time to Post Your Pics

No but I just notised that the Input sensitivity is the same as of the B-2, the B-1 has 775mV/100ohm.
I'll bet that is either 10K ohm or 100K ohm. 100 ohm input would roll off the frequencies so severely it would sound like it was using helium as the air pressure medium. :D (think Donald Duck).

LOL, yes the K slipped. It is 775mV/100kOhm :)

I was just looking at the specs of the B-1, what a beast. It does 160W RMS @8 and 4ohm, but if the data is correct it will do 360W@8ohm dynamic power.

What I would give for one ! :tears:

convitcon,

may I ask where you live ?

The "mod" can currently be made only on the B-1, because it´s V-Fet transistor´s housings are big enough, to include a modern high power transistor and some circuitry (the magic) arround it. It is also currently bound to N-types, but I try during the next months to solve this. The replacement transistors will be rather high price, so it shouldn´t make sense to mod a TA-5650 with them.

The TA-N7(B) and the TA-E88 (as well as the Wega version Lab Zero) form a dream team, which can be considered to be the best of the Senventies. I never had a chance to hear them on a pair of NS-1000´s but I´m sure I´d love to.

I live in Hanoi, Vietnam, your "mod B1 plan" sound interested but I dared not so far :D
In our country, we are called for electronic rubbish for years (normally come from Japan, Russia and American) so I can get such the vintage with cheap prices, TA-5650 = $US 50, TA-F7 = $US 130, Ya BX-1 = 700 and etc that I think they are cheap in comparision with other market

Well do they have any Yamaha V-FET's? :)

You might want to post about the tube stuff in the tube forum, I think they will like it and might ask you to go shopping :D

Nice to se a member in the Far East by the way, you have a lot of stuff that we only see in pictures.

finally.....i can post something on here..."we've only just begun....."

That sucker is really nice. Do hope you find the rest of the system (CX-2000, CDX-2000, TX-2000 & NS-2000X). The CX and TX show up occasionally. The CDX is quite rare and the NS are expensive and almost never seen in NA.

That amp is a thing of beauty. I hope it sounds as great as it looks. One of these days I'll take some pictures of my B-2.

Thanks! I hope so too. that would be my Yammie reference system. I can see myself getting the CX-2000 or CDX-2000 sooner rather than later. I did remember seeing a CDX on ebay waay before I even thought about getting into yamaha stuff and thought to myself "that is the sweetest looking vintage cd player I've ever seen". I never bid. I have never seen a NS-2000 on ebay US and I've reserved myself to be O.K with the NS-1000m which are easier to obtain. Right now I have some Dhalquists that are nice but highly inefficient and the trusty old Pioneer HPM-100s. I'd rather mate Yamaha gear to yamaha speakers, (at least the TOTL gear & speakers). So, I'm in no rush.

nbourbaki; The MX-2000 is the true little sister to the mighty MX-10000.

The series is a little messed up, see the TX and CX-2000 are 1000 models with much nicer finish and a bit extra shielding (if I remember right) but basically the same. The MX-1000 is far from the 2000, where the 1000 delivers 2x260W@8ohm. The 2000 "only" makes 2x130W@8ohm but in class A and that is with an extra 8kg.

My 'new' CA-2010!

Here's a few shots of the CA-2010 I bought from rstsgsas - he picked it up with a dead channel and repaired it. He recapped the power supply (not the big caps, but the regulator caps I believe), and replaced the outputs in both channels with modern On-Semi devices. The face and case are in great condition - 9/10 or better!

How does it sound? Well, like a good Yamaha should - clear and clean with lots of definition and detail. Very quiet yet lots of power. The controls feel a little bit different from the 1010, and it is heavier (by 4 pounds or so). The extra weight is in taller heatsinks and a bigger power transformer - it's huge!

I've put in two pictures with a CA-1010 sitting on top of it - the meter lights on the 1010 have the blue-green filter on them while the 2010 is bare bulbs. It might be missing the blue-green filter, but it might not have been part of the 2010 (any 2010 users comments?) So far I like the bare bulb colour as it matches the Akai tuner I'm using.

It's an awsome amp, and thanks to rstsgsas for the work done and the awsome packing job in getting it up here!

rhiohki: What a beautiful amp to go with that tuner! Did you pick up the amp on ebay recently?

Interesting. I've had three CA-2010 in the past three years and none of them had filters in the lights. Bright white. But, still a wonderful beast.

A TX-2000 just sold on Audiogon. Hopefully, rhiohki got it.

My CA-2010 has the green filters, too.

Maybe there was a change in them during the model run? By 1979 the 'blue light look' might have looked dated - like it's sooo 1977 dude...

Which makes me ask - was the CA-1010 a TOTL amp for one year, then surpassed by the 2010 later, or were they introdced at the same time?

B2 - 3 2010s in a year? I hope you still have one of them. Good to know this one is not alone in being filterless - and I think I prefer it without the blue filter.

(I think rhiohki did get that tuner.)

speaking of that. I did get it. Here are some pics. this is a remarkable tuner.

Beautiful! And some nice pic's, as well. If you follow the tuner forum assoicated with the TIC, believe it is Bob who mod's the TX-1000. As the TX-2000 is the same machine in different clothes, you might want to do a search of the TIC and their forum for info on same. Bob believes the mod'd TX-1000 is the best there is.

For sure, if I was buying on looks, I would be bidding against you. Those are two good looking pieces of gear.
