Can anyone who owns a Technics SL7 PLEASE chime in on this?

Well nevermind I figured it out, I dug up an illustration in the interwebs of how the switch cover's supposed to go on.

Glad you figure it out. Have been meaning to open up my SL-7 and lube the worm gear again. Last time was not fun.. you give me hope.

How frequently do you figure you should lube it?

Mine was JUST lubed 3 weeks ago.

I presume it's good for a few years on single lube.

One thing I realized.

The reason my problem started is because I tried using the screw from my SL-J2 cartridge assembly to screw in the cart to the SL-7 BUT they actually aren't interchangeable as I thought they were.

Now I am playing it without that screw till I find the actual correct screw size.

I always thought P mount cartridge screws were all the same honestly

Not always. Some T4p mount linears, are strict T4p everything and no deviations, some can handle a 1/2 gram light, or 1/2 a gram heavier than 1.25 gram tracking force, and 6 grams mass. (thus sayeth Panasonic/Technics)
