I have a file of screen grabs of these legends on my computer. They seem to be pretty consistent.
What do you mean by "Mystery of the Universe"? Unidentifiable? Unobtainable?
is a Ceramic Capacitor (Cylinder Type)
is SBL Film Capacitor
is MS Capacitor
is the difference between a Metalized Film Resistor and Metal Film Resistor
is a Metal Plate ResistorFunny.I have mentioned before that when I worked for Siemens in W. Germany that developed a written language that was English mixed with German. No one had an idea of what they were trying to get across.
When I worked for Toshiba they also developed a written language that was English mixed with Japanese. No one had an idea of what they were trying to get across.

Google search doesn't find anything like thatSBL = Styrene Butadiene Latex, sometimes called SBR
I don't recall ever seeing a Cylindrical Ceramic. Apparently Yamaha considered these to be different?Cylindrical ceramic = axial ceramic (I believe)
Yamaha please give me some more Please!Once again a dead end to find a Motor Start Capacitor in a small size. They all seem to be for Furnace/Air Conditioning motors and similar.MS = motor start (but I’d want to see that in context))
As a extremely ANAL Engineer that is the type of answer I have so desperately been seeking.Metal Plate = replacement for wirewound. Forerunner to today’s cement and thick film resistors.

Right, you won’t find one at Digikey either. Use another styrene based on the placement in the circuit.Google search doesn't find anything like that
But this stuff is most likely outdated and unobtainium. Why not take the engineering energy and find a modern component that fits the circuit. As a extremely ANAL Engineer that is the type of answer I have so desperately been seeking.![]()
Do you have specific locations that you need replacement for? MS caps are frequently found in tape decks. If the MS cap is in a tuner, I may be misidentifying the part. Seeing it in circuit will help clarify.Once again a dead end to find a Motor Start Capacitor in a small size. They all seem to be for Furnace/Air Conditioning motors and similar.
Yes it does...Google search doesn't find anything like that
AHHH. No wonder we can’t find it!
Could you be so kind to provide the link that you have found?Yes it does...
