I bought a turntable. To ship it the headshell and cartridge were removed from the tonearm and tie wrapped to the inside of a small cardboard box and sealed. The box was then labeled and placed inside the shipping container to protect it while shipping. What you are seeing is the inside of the box and the white tie wrap. I couldn't discern any model# or labeling on the cartridge.

I'm taking the turntable to a restorer. Just wondering what type of cartridge and if I should consider getting a new/better one. The turntable is a Pioneer PLC 590 with a Denon 307 tonearm. I'm removing the Denon and replacing it with a Pioneer carbon fiber PA 1000 tonearm and headshell, The seller didn't know what type of cartridge it was as he was selling it from his father's estate.

That's a Shure stylus for an m92e. Are there numbers or letters on the side? M92e is usually printed on the top. Shure made more than a dozen p-mount carts, some are better than others but they're all decent. The n92e works with all of the carts.

Looks like a Shure stylus to me? What tells that it is aftermarket?

rivertone.stylus has a EVG nude elliptical stylus for the M92 listed on eBay. You can search on 'N92E nude' to find it if you want to do so.
