That means you just go to the Mcintosh suite this year for cocktails.

There was a previous thread concerning a picture of Ron_C at a Mac dealer many years ago in front of some classic Mac units. Mac should have a "heritage" setup with a system from say, the 1960's. This would give prospective buyers a reminder of the value and on-going performance of Mcintosh components after 40 - 50 years.

I for one think it's a good think McIntosh has a long product cycle and doesn't introduce new products and discontinues the old ones arbitrarily.

Really, even adding DSD to the D100 mostly constitutes a minor marketing decision IMO. It's really important for some folks that their albums of PCM files converted to DSD be decoded "natively". :thmbsp:

I'm not sure I follow. What is McIntosh behind the rest of the world on?

So far D150 (DSD/DXD Dac), MCT150 (Transport) and TIDAL integration to the MB100.

Dealers love new model introductions as:

- Some folks want NEW the moment it's available
- The MFR typically offers close out opportunities on discontinued models
- Some folks want a deal and it can be had on discontinued models

Really, what's not to like as the above benefits the MFR, dealer, and customers ...

I'm not sure I see a big glaring hole in McIntosh' product offerings though ... I kind of like McIntosh being McIntosh.

I like the MCT450 transport if for no other reason then it seems ballsy to release a CD transport in the twilight of the disc. I guess it being an SACD transport as well makes it designed to work with the D150's DSD decoding. Two-box transport/DAC setups feel retro-1990's, but again, I'm digging it.

I'm still looking for one more spinner. Mainly because I have a bunch of cds but more important, I still love to pop in a shiny disc and push play. I sometimes think it can still sound better than a server. Call me crazy.
