Nicest looking of the turntables recently introduced that I wouldn't want for best possible playback. But there is a market for unique record playback systems whether they extract the most from the groove or just play the record as this one appears to do.

This was posted some time ago, as I recall. It seems they've been been repeatedly missing delivery dates despite generating about a half million dollars in pledges against a goal of only about $50K.

Looks great for traveling....

A Bur Brown phono stage and a wow and flutter of 0.05 % might make it worthwhile in a few years after the price comes down.

Cartridge is installed at the factory and not user replaceable.
Replacement stylus: ATN 95e

Imo, that's what you call "blowing it".

I think that they are creating a niche product aimed at a non-niche market. The thing that I think would put off audiophiles (and even people like us lot) is the inability for cartridge upgrades and the use of what is a budget cartridge - albeit a known good one. Also, you can buy a far better turntable (with a better cartridge fitted) for far less money right now.

1) Nice idea.
2) Gimmick.

So I won't be the first to say "hipster nonsense" / "it's finding a solution to problem that doesn't exist" / "it's been done years ago only better"?

I noticed that the stylus is a trimmed-down AT95E, similar to the Clearaudio V2 MM series. Also, given the absence of a clamp, what's keeping the record down with the cartridge exerting the VTF from below?

Potentially, but with the choice of upgrade needles available, from HE, Shibata, Vividline and Paratrace, there's room to improve. I doubt the parties this is aimed at will care too much.

Even a light weight record will be over 50x heavier than the VTF. But if that's not enough, there's a blank disc that rests on the record to keep dust off. That should be more than enough.
