And you're stuck with one cartridge.

"Please note: The Modified AT95E cartridge is adjusted for each Wheel and can't be user replaced. The stylus is user replaceable. Replacement styli will be available from the moment Wheel ships."

But I'me sure that someone will figure out how to use a different cartridge.

Statement piece. Just watch all the inferior defecators falling over themselves.

Wheel plays the bottom of your records dust free in a closed space.
The record itself is the dust protector.

Really? What about the other side? You know, the one collecting all the dust while you play the underside!

$850 bucks a piece and almost 500% funded.

Did we ever like a TT from Kickstarter?
I'm beginning to get the impression maybe it's not for us...
Mmm... Who do you suppose would appreciate a linear that's confined to an AT95?
With that said... If you build a TA around a cart - would an AT95 be your final choice???

Here's the rest of the quote:

Each Wheel comes with a transparent LP with great music from the best Dutch musicians we know of. You can play this record, enjoy the music and see what happens inside Wheel. You can also use it as a dust protector, on top of your own record.

I hardly think placing one record directly on top of another to act as a dust cover is in anyway a good idea. The Idea is to prevent anything other than your needle from touching the grooves. A plastic microwave cover would do a better job.

LPs are made with raised outer edges and labels, and have been since the days of record changers. They are designed to be stacked one upon another without the grooves touching, despite your opinion.

I wonder if this thing will be designed to work with other sizes of records than 12"?

On second look, it appears that it will only work with 12" records, the way the platter is designed. Between that and my cat, I'm not in target market.

You could set a cat toy, covered in catnip, on the top edge. After all, there won't be a tonearm to bump into..

But if you want to play 45's, you might want to pick up the "Love".

I see you point

I see your point. Just not sure that a slightly warped record might not defeat the raised edge. Just seems like playing with fire when a simple cover akin to a plastic microwave/cake lid would remove all doubt. Not looking for an argument, I just believe that that one little extra step would eliminate any possibility of record damage.

Hipsters be all over this. No way to upgrade the cartridge on a $2000 turntable.
