For $20 more I would get the Original Spin Clean, which is what I am using. So far so good.

Even if it is, it's probably spec'd cheaper, with lower grade parts. Unless it's made before 1957, I wouldn't touch anything that says Crosley on it.

The first thing I noticed is that the rounded bottom would require far less fluid to reach the fill line. I think I like this design.

It's a wash tub with felt pads on each side. How could they screw that up? I have a fluid I like better than Mahoney's anyway.

I'm with Mark. I think it looks ok, or at least innocent until proven guilty. Who wants to step up, buy it and review it?

At $60 shipped it's $20 cheaper than the SpinClean and it does the same thing. That's it a "rebranded" Spin Clean, agree looks like a better design with rounded bottom.

The Spin Clean also has a rounded bottom, it is just hidden under the rest of the plastic (look underneath it).

It looks like it's practically the same design as the Spin Clean, just cheaper and easier to tip over by the looks of things. I'd also personally be be embarrassed to own anything with the Crosley name on it that was made after 1957, as a previous poster said.

It's a ripoff of the spin clean. The original spin clean uses a rounded well also so it probably uses the same amount of fluid. All in all it's probably just style of doing the same thing that the original spin clean does.

My only problems with washers like this is putting the record in and taking it out. Sliding the pads across the grooves isn't a good thing. Spin clean does work though.

My mom go me the Crosley record cleaning brush (their answer to the RCA Discwasher) for my birthday, along with a few vintage records. I was disappointed to see the Crosley logo (pretending to love the gift, of course), but I have to say it's actually pretty good. I already had a Pfanstiehl and an old Realistic, but the Crosley is my new favorite. The handle is nice and heavy, and the cleaner surface is velvet with nice give underneath (unlike the corduroy on the current Discwashers). Anyway, I know nothing of this new Spin Clean alternative, but my point is that Crosley isn't always horrible. They just buy Chinese stuff and slap their name on it. Sometimes something decent might slip through.

How is holding less water a better design?

One of the problems with something like SpinClean is reuse of the same dirty water. More water is better.

Removable and replaceable brushes are also better in the long term.

No, I don't think the amount of water is much different as the "tank" in the Spin Clean is also round bottomed despite the appearance of the SC. The quality and availability of the pads are IMO the only significant factor to be considered. Perhaps the solution too but others have done their own.

I kind of like the Art Deco-ish design. Do it in bakelite or chrome and I would be all over it.

From the looks of it, the design can't be too different than the SC. But the most critical points are the fluid (Crosley calls it Vinyl Shine) and the brushes.

Aside from the design, I think this is great news for record collectors, even though it's a cheaper copycat model. Two reasons: more price competition and wider distribution. The price is much lower than the SC which has become "stupid" expensive in recent years. Also, Walmart carries the Crosley cleaner. This means that more and more of the record listening crowd will have access to a (hopefully decent) affordable record cleaner. In the future, it should help ensure higher quality used records.

I'll stick with the Original Spin Clean, there is a reason it has been in production for so long, it works.
