Dual 1218 - connect to amplifier

Register to hide this ad
I have my two phono cables plugged into the amplifier, but can’t find where to plug them into Dual 1218 turntable.

Welcome to the AK turn table forum.

The phono cables should be connected to the turn table at one end.

Are your phono cables connected to the turn table at all?

How about a picture of the back of the amplifier? Or the back of your turntable too.

they are right by the label that says ( type 1218 ) on yours, the RCA jacks are attached to the reddish-brown wafer board

there should be an L & R stamped on it so you know which cable goes where ( hard so see ) on mine the L is the the lower one when the table is sitting properly

also if your RCA cables have big fat ends you cant get 2 on them on there not enough space so you will need to get some with small ends

There is lots of info on Duals on AK. At some point it will’ need lubrication and it’s motor cleaned and oiled. Normal for a 40 plus old turntable. Once that’s done, it will last a long time. The 1219 was a project 7 years ago. Had a German built cabinet and dust cover on this one. Loads of stories on these. Cleaned and lubed it then. Ran 5 yrs and the motor got noisy. Did a clean and lube on it about a year and a half ago. Fine since. Have two others, one with a American built cabinet. My least like one. Have an early 1219 with yet another German cabinet with a cool plexiglas lid.

You can get a manual for your 1218 on vinyl engine. Sign up, it free. Lots of useful info there. Also there are posts here as well. Good luck.
