Dynaco A25 recap

Any suggestions for best capacitor for (Seas) Dynaco A25 recap? Please be specific with brand, type and values. Thanks in advance.

Depends on your price point. Mundorf are quite nice. Being in Canada I tend to lean towards Solens as they are quite easy to get.

I use Dayton 5% film caps from parts express for all my speaker projects. The price is good and I like the results. I don't go for boutique caps. IMHO a waste of money. (No affiliation. Just a satisfied customer.)

Screwing up an A25 recap is like blowing a 10 run lead in the 9th.
Now that I see the question.. Yes... get the MOST expensive Janzen/Mundorf/Clarity single cap you can of course..
But don;t forget about the original resistors..
An that's a whole ;nother level of "how much to spend here"
They're A=25's.... not bars of gold..and having run them for years too
totally overrated in many ways...
The tweeter rolls off hard
The bass is punchy and deep but vocals are mostly absent..
ow I think about it..
Do youself a favor like I did.
And trade the A-25's for a proper set of 3 way's of your choice..
You'll be much happier..
And much more challenged and lighter in the wallet recapping a real set of 3 ways (of your choice)..
Dynaco's have their limits...
They belong in either a garage, a smoke filled bar or back of a VW bus IMO;.

Ditto on the Dayton 5% caps, I've never used anything else on the dozens of speakers I restored, including a pair of Dynaco A35.

All speakers have their limits.

There is a reason the A25 is one of the greatest-selling speakers of all time.

Curious why you used them for many years?

Used ClarityCap PX 250Vdc in my ScanDyna A20's (I think, a smaller European-market progenitor to the A25) and am extremely pleased with them. I did not change the resistors, but I did add additional acoustic fluff inside the boxes. I am amazed at how these sound, with good base extension. The ClarityCap PX is not expensive.

I used Auricap XO in mine (same value as original), and left the resistors stock. I was happy with the change, but it's been long enough I can't remember specifics of how it changed. I think the A-25 is well worth the investment of a recap.

I usually pay a bit more and get the Dayton 1% caps. You don't need 1% in a first order crossover, and maybe not in any crossover, but I think the overall quality is higher. I measure all caps for Vloss and ESR, in addition to capacitance, and the Dayton 1% are hard to beat in that regard.
