Well, this type of preamp is ideally designed for a high resolution system. No offense to your ST35 and that is a wonderful sounding amp but at 500 value compared to 1200, the finesse of this preamp may not achieve its full value with your amp. That is not to say that this preamp could take you to audio nirvana, but i am sure in the back of your head you will be thinking what this preamp will sound like paired with a single ended 300b amplifier. So i would feel that by purchasing this pre, i would be committing to an amp of equal value at some later time. Nothing wrong with that. You can build an SE amp yourself and save the money.

For what it's worth the input sensitivity of the st35 is 1 volt for full output. The beepre has a max output of 18vrms. You could probably run the st35 with a passive preamp. If you are looking to move into set's and have the speakers for it. I would recommend looking at the stereomour 2 for a few bucks more than the beepre.

Wow 18v rms! maybe you could just use it to power an 845 tube directly with no driver tube section? Or a simpler driver stage. Some 845 amps have 3 stages of amplification before the power tube.

I don’t own a st35. My system is Beepre that goes into stereomour2 into khorn and the combination is wonderful.
A friend has a st35 and asked me to borrow him the preamp to try so I was wondering if anybody had a good experience with that.
Apparently the st35 doesn’t need a pre amp.
