EQ Overkill ??

My Onkyo 602 has a built in EQ but I have a old Pioneer EQ sitting
around curious as to ones thoughts about hooking it up for extra
adjustment or just overkill ?

Before the advent of CD's I was a big fan of using EQ's for analog media vinyl,Tapes to adjust for sound. Today's digital music lends me to only use it when I'm playing my records and tapes and would be overkill IMHO to add two eq's into the mix:yes:

Trying to adjust two is going to be a mess. If you can disable the internal, AND the Pioneer is a good one that would be the way to go. The external can then be bypassed when you don't need it.

I would set the amp's eq flat or bypass it all together (if you can) if you're adding the outboard eq. IMO it'll just sound way too tweaked otherwise.

I am going to stick with the 602s internal the Pioneer I have is not one of their
better ones I cant find any info on it other than it was made in 86

What's the model number of the Pioneer EQ? I own several of them. You can also raise the question in the Pioneer forum about the EQ and were it fits in the hierarchy of their equalizer's :scratch2:

Try it! You may notice that the equalizer adds background noise. I only use mine for rough recordings.

It's actually a 14 band eq ( seven per side) There are 5 band eq's by Pioneer that control both channels with "Just" 5 sliders:yes: I would keep it for use down the road with a non/dedicated eq amp.:thmbsp:

That's not true. .that's a personal preference..

If it weren't for EQ's then the records you hear wouldn't sound worth a crap coming out of the studio... Studios and live shows use stacks of them.. why not in the home too????

We all don't like a "flat" sounding system..

i used three EQ's in line for a while i kept them all flat for the most part, the only reason that i used them was because i like the lights
