Turntable and an EQ

May be a dumb question but can I hook my tt up to an eq then to my receiver? The comports are Toshiba TT and a onkyo Intergra EQ-35.

Unless I'm totally mistaken, I would say no. If I am others will chime in. You can though if you have a pre-amp of some sort between the TT and the EQ. A tables output is not a line level output like other components, it is much lower, thus the need for a pre-amp. A good majority of the older receivers, amps, integrated amps and pre-amps had a connector just for this purpose. Even some of the newer video receivers will have a TT connector also, just depends.

The hookup needs to be:
TT>TT preamp>EQ>Line input on the receiver or integrated amp. Can't go from EQ to the TT input...level will be too high. Some older units may have a ceramic phono input that would be a closer match...but it's still possible the EQ's output would be too high.

No. The turntable needs to connect to a "phono" input. You can connect the EQ to tape ins/outs and use the tape monitor switch to engage the EQ. That is how an EQ is typically used.

I might add in by stating the "what would happen."
What would happen is that the noise floor would be destroyed. You would have more noise in the line than you have ever heard before.
EQs are meant to operate at line voltage, which is just over 1 volt. A TT operates at near 0.02-0.03 volts. Trying to pull that kind of gain through an EQ will introduce rediculoud amounts of noise.
