ESS AMT-3 replacement woofer candidates

Ok, managed to get the upgrade/experimenting bug. I have a set of these coming tomorrow, and will try to get them installed this weekend. I'm keeping the current woofer caps, but am curious what if any improvement/differences there will be.
Should be interesting working through the woofer holes.
Luckily hot melt goes away easily with isopropyl alcohol!!

Note port tubes.. the Dayton ST255-8 days...
There are still there-now short, plugged with a hockey puck.

The 33's are the 2 upper caps..
FIY the mid woofer wire had yet to be installed on the mid at this point-that's why it's looped

It is important to use the DCR of the crossover inductor to compute a new effective Qts
in order to get the correct Qtc in the box. Many drivers end up with too low Qtc which
results in a drooping response and a high F 3dB. Some simulators allow you to input
the source resistance to make this adjustment.

Goldwoods have weak motors and I would not use them.

It would be good if you could find a spec for Fc and Qtc with the original woofers in system.
Do you have the T&S parameters for the original woofers?
Do you have the crossover schematic?

You really want an Fc in the low 40s as was done in the LA and AR-3 to get that nice deep
low end punch. I'm looking for something similar to the LA woofer but built on a 10" frame.

This may have been posted by now, but the ESS 10" woofer specs are still available via Parts Express.

The OP is aware of that-the AMT3 uses a 8ohm woofer.

This ESS 689-1012 truncated frame woofer is NOT the one used in the AMT 3..... If someone has the original 10" stamped woofers and can measure the T&S params, please publish it. Rumor is the Dayton DS250-8 is similar...

Chief has the O.E. woofs

If someone can convince him to ship me one woofers-I'll buy the P.E. woofer tester

1.16mh of inductor filtering on a 1st order midrange is massive , those mids sound very tame , am i close to correct

Opps
Mundorfs
Yes your correct
It’s not really a mid range, but more of a transitional driver
Woofer crosses to the transition driver @250, and to the Heil @700-800hz
12 dB slope

Well the kids for the most part are being produced by the Heil... The mid range as you call it is a transitional driver, I think you’re missing the point!!

If you read this, this describes why they’re using this driver
It’s not a midrange
It’s a midwoofer
