Since my Adcom 555 II doesn’t have speaker protection, is there any way to put fuses in line with the speakers to protect them? Something like DC fuses.

A good rule of thumb is 2 amp fuses for bookshelf speakers, 4 amp for floor standers. Use the 250 volt rating 1/4" x 1 1/4" type.

Thanks for the info. My Magnepan’s are 4 ohm and the amp is 200 wpc into 8 ohms continuously. From the graph my speakers would need a 4 amp quick blow fuse since the amp puts out about 300 wpc in 4 ohms. Magnepan does not recommend slo blow fuses on the speaker. But they’re referring to the fuse that protects the tweeter drivers.

The graph (looks like the Crown dc300 service manual) referes to the Speaker wattage , not the amplifier power.

Note that speaker fuses can affect the sound. I've tried different types of fuses and found each can sound a little different from each other. All fuses sound different from a straight wire (no fuse). The fast blow instrument fuses I would expect to affect the sound more as it can be cycle heating as the speaker plays. You'll have to try it to see if you hear the differences.
