I'm sure those are the ideal caps to use, but they still are pretty expensive, and are unlikely to result in any sonic improvement. But, you're right, they look great and could have shipped with the unit.
I do like to have the result of my work look as close to factory as possible, but within reasonable financial parameters. Those BHC caps are pushing those parameters badly for most people, especially considering that there are much cheaper alternatives that will do the job just as well (but admittedly won't look as cool).
That said, if I was rebuilding my own G-8000, I might just spring for the spendy caps.
For the most users who listening theirs Big G receivers at low levels, it will be better if they will leave the original old main capacitors than use some cheap replacement (to be clear, those Panasonic are good, but not good as those BHC). They will not hear any sonic improvement too.
But if they like listening at high level, it will better to install the best capacitors as they could buy. Why ( you Echo knows, but for others who dont) because very quality capacitors can deliver a high current at very short time, and that is very important for very dynamic consumer as the power stage is. So it is not only question, how it looks like (big or small), it is question how it will work at high levels (on small levels, will work any capacitor).
Another very important characteristic of power capacitors is to filter any kind of noise in power supply...
Finally, here we are not talking about fashion (so, some fashion brand is more expensive because it is "in"), it has very good reason why Panasonic costs 10US$, and why those BHC costs (currently) 30US$.
Like why some KIA car cost three times less than BMW, the both cars will drive
