My recently cleaned up CR-220 is still out there, but I switched out the crummy Sharp speakers for some slightly less crummy sounding Fisher speakers off an all-in-one system. :sigh: I really need to find some decent bookshelf speakers...

Why expose your vintage equiptment to an unheated garage? I guess it depend how intense of a winter you have. I have at mint SX-980 and Cambridge CD player that I keep in the house, wired out to the garage with a pair of ADS L500 monitors. Good enough for garage work!!!

Yes thats my garage:yes: turn the camera to the opposite side and yikes what a mess. This used to be my florida room systems before we moved. have a sta 90 don't really need the 673 out there but it sounds so bloody nice I had to try it out ! I have no knowledge of how cold effects the stereo but I don't spend any time in the garage in the winter so why should my vintage equipment.

Ok Gang, here my current garage set-up. Man I love this little system. It is so pleasant sounding. In some ways I like it more than my main. This Onkyo TX-3000 is smooth as silk. I love the VU meters too. I picked up the Realistic EQ for 5 bucks from a CL add. It looks really sweet with those colored dot bars, and it really helps mold the playback to perfection. The CD player is nothin special. Just a single disc sony thrifty find, but it works and doesn't take up tons of room. The speakers are Polk Series 2. I have some EPI T/E's that may be used in my garage in place of these, but that is a decision for a day when they are ready to play. I have it set-up on my couch for "Testing

I have two garages, one attached. On the attached garage, tho it is not heated I still kept a stereo out there. Now it does not get nearly as cold here in Tennessee as it does up there, maybe we will get a dip into the single digits overnight, and that is usually for a week or two at most. I would guess our "cold" days average between 20-25 - dipping into teens at night.
Now I do not have my "best" equipment out there. Currently it is a Onkyo A-5 , a kenwood Cassette deck, cd player and a pair of HPM-100 speakers.
On really cold days, I am not out there long enough to use a stereo. On the days that I do use it and it is 'cold" out there, I turn the amp on 1st and let it warm up for 5 minutes or so before i use it (I really do not care about cassette deck and cd player out there)
My biggest concern has actually been when powering down. Always wondered if I should be worried about moisture as it cools back down. Hoping as the humidity is so low it should not be a problem.
I may actually be more concerned about it in the summer as the humidity around here is always so high. I am thinking it may be much harder on the amp when it is 98 degrees with 90% humidity. For now all I can think of that is economically feasible is to insure a fan stays on it

Montreal winters are not garage system friendly! No shots now, but my HK PM640VXi and TU909 will head out there soon. Last year I used PSB 400 but these have been used as sides to upgrade my HT set up so some Mirage 190 will take their place. They will be able to fit on top of the workbench rather than eating up a lot of space on the main shelf so its all good.

Having been to Montreal in winter, I will have to say I would probably take my system inside during winter too. Here in Denver it gets cold but... not THAT cold...

I have A Nikko NR-1050, Sony CD 5 disc changer, Sony EQ and Legacy IIs. The CD player wouldn't work during some of the coldest weather this winter so I had to open her up. The motor needed some help to get going and it's been fine ever since.
Hint - don't flip CD players over when the tray is full.

Sitting here watching the snow fall out the window, yesterday sitting with the wife by the garage system listening to my Onkyo TX-8500, Lancer77,altec's with the temperature at 65 degrees, kids zooming by on there atv's. California foothills. Is it Spring yet?
