Gas Prices

I travel around the U.S. a lot for work. I’m surprised by the range of gas prices. Might be $5 pg in NYC; and $2.50 in TX.

Just paid $2.99 in PA; $2.79 in NJ.
Yep, glad you guys were paying for my gas when I was traveling for work all the time.

 that said I guess you guys have always been paying for my "work" fuel... thanks

$3.23

8 miles away, $2.76 :dunno:
Might depend also on quality of the fuel. My brother only buys his high octane fuel at two or three brands (his Jaguar dealer told him which companies were acceptable). I, on the other hand—if I’m buying and not driving someone else’s fancy vehicle—use the cheapest I can find.

It is typically the difference in taxes of different municipalities. Here it's city and county dependent.

Not sure if this will come to fruition or already in play:
“It doesn’t look good at all for OPEC+ in 2025,” said Christof Ruehl, senior analyst at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy. “Everybody would agree that non-OPEC supply is strong enough to create a surplus in the market. And holding back supply now to keep prices up encourages that, of course.” Fortune Magazine

2.65 for regular at the Shell station yesterday. Top tier gas around here is about the same as the so called cheap stations. I've always tried to use top tier and never had a fuel system failure in any car except for a 327 in a 67 impala and that engine was just plain wore out. We're paying now about the same or less accounting for inflation as when this thread started in 2003

I buy the cheapest 90/10, but usually Marathon. We have a Marathon refinery here, so most everything is Marathon, regardless of the sign or name.

Also never had a fuel issue with a modern vehicle. I don't do "fuel injector cleaning", either.

Now let me tell you bout all my lawn equipment... I've seen plenty of fuel line and diaphragms ruined by ethanol.

There's plenty of hydrocarbons in the Utica and Marcellus shale plays (PA, Ohio, WV, New York).

A lot of the infrastructure was partially built out already. Won't take much except an OK to drill and to export more natural gas to get the US back to a net energy exporter.

We already are a net exporter of oil and petrol products since at least 2021.
