I have yet to get bored with my music selections. Most of the older stuff I listen to takes me back to younger days....and I like reminiscing. I listen to very little new music. I have no interest in most of it. Rap doesn't work for me......I can't deal with most of the lyrics, and I am an OLD SAILOR!

New country is just rap about cows. I will admit, some new artists, and I use that term very loosely, have sparked my interest. But not enough for me to throw away my Hair Band albums!! SO I guess I am an old stuck in the mud, gonna listen to Fooled Around and Fell in Love and remember the HS girls!
I agree, I just don't relate to modern Rap music. Just not my thing. I do like a lot of older stuff, but the modern stuff just seems to filthy for me. Im totally ok with music being explicit that is fine, but when it gets to a point where its just filth set to music I tune out. Its not always rap either, there are some rock songs like this too.
I had a member in this thread try to troll me over this exact topic, and to me his comments say more about him then it does about any ones choice in music. Not everyone has to like the same thing, and if someone dislikes something you like, its not personal its just one preference. Its not personal. I never push my music on others, so really not sure why he insists I like what he likes.
I made this thread so that folks can talk about how their music taste has changed as they aged, yet I had/have folks trying to tell me I was wrong and what I should listen to. Same member today said he was going to "Ignore me" over my music choice. Called me a boomer, and said he was going to block me. I reported the post and just let it go. For one I am not a boomer, and 2, I realize that he may feel I am attacking his style of music. Anyone with a set of eye balls can read this entire thread and see what is going on. Im not trying to cause any issues, I just want to talk music and how its changed for me and others is all.
Anyway back to the topic at hand, So I picked up a few new albums yesterday, ones that I assumed would be off putting to me due to the fact that they were Nu-Metal. I picked up Manson's new album, and The Deftones Around the Fur album.
The Manson Album was actually really good, had his more pop/metal sound than his screaming sound. I am a big Manson fan, this album sounds more like his early stuff like the "eat me drink me" album.
I assumed I would not be able to take it for long but i actually finished the album and really liked it. (ill post a few pix)
The Deftones on the other hand I could listen to "My own summer" and "Be Quiet and Drive" All the rest of the tracks was hard for me to get through. When I was a teen I would blast that album like there was no tomorrow, I know it like the back of my hand, yet I cant seem to stand it now.
Something in me has shifted, Ive been learning that the shift has me listening to more instrumental, and Jazz and blues. I have been going down the road of classical again too. Soft rock, and R&B, and oldies seem to hit the spot for me. Also have really been getting into Louis Prima. Not sure why but have really been feeling his vibes. I think I played "Want to be like you" the song he did for the Jungle Book a million times over the last few weeks. IKD what it is but that is one swanky track if you ask me!
