oh....my.....gosh, garp. i just paid multiples of $75 for an x2000r that needed work. at least i can comfort myself with the sure knowledge that eventually, yours will too. and the crap load of tape!! unnnggghhh...you were in the right place for sure. congratulations....
 
Thanks Shrinkboy. It's running pretty smoothly now. I have a very thin snap ring I am using for a spacer until I find the proper thrust washer. I never seem to score anything, so I guess it's just been building up for a while... lol Congrats on your deck. Your gona love it!
 
Friday SA auction.

The auction has been pretty slim the past few weeks. But this Friday they had a Pioneer SX-650 receiver & a Sansui AU-G99X integrated amp missing the volume knob. The guy I generally go in with also wanted the Sansui. Final bid was $42.50, he gave me $8 for a box of phones & other junk. I got them home, the Sansui was very nice outside, the inside was coated with a thick layer of dust, the 650 much less so. I pulled out the vac & gave them a good cleaning. Hooked up speakers & CD player. The Sansui sounded awsome. Looked it up, cost $1000, made in mid 80', rated 160 wpc. The 650 is rated 35 wpc & sounded great, needs the stereo lamp replaced. I found a Volume knob from a Sony that fit perfect. Made me happy. :music:

Things in philly seemed to be pretty picked over, but today I scored 4 Minimus-7W speakers for $15 at a local thrift store, and a TEAC 6010 reel-to-reel, witha box of tapes, for $35 at a vintage shop. Apparently I missed a Marantz MR255 and speakers by an hour.

EDIT: There was another pair of speakers at the thrift store, nondescript, but they had a pot knob on the back, so I thought the might be something, but since there were no markings other than "ohms," I let them sit. I went on ebay to check on the Dynaco A25s I'm bidding on, and noticed they had the same hanging mounts as the onces at the store. hmm... look at little closer at the pics, and yup, same binding posts, same "8 ohms" print. Someone had switched the grill cloth, otherwise I might've looked at them a little closer. Pretty sure I saw someone walking away with them, too.

I went looking yesterday and found a couple of deals that were too good to pass up on some not so great gear. The first purchase was a pair of KLH SA900 bookshelf speakers for $10. I have 6's, 17's, and 24's so I know what these are. At the second stop I purchased a Pioneer SX 424 receiver and a Dual 1218 for $5 each. The Pioneer cleaned up nicely and sounds fine. The Dual suffers from the usual been sitting on a shelf too long syndrome. But it provided me with the added bonus of having a nice Shure M91ED mounted. I already have one of these and it's one of my favorites. The Pioneer and the KLH's will make a nice shop system.

Picked up an AKAI GX-280D and GX-365D for 30.00 at my GW last week. The 280 turned out to be working while the 365 was a bust it powers on but no movement.

But I guess the 280D is a great buy at 30.00

Yamaha M-65 15 dollars??? That's great, did it work? I had an M-50 that I really liked and sold when I was broke. :(
 
Yes it works, range switches a little sticky is all otherwise and it cleaned up nice.
Have yet to check out the other items but they look fine too. It all looks like Military audio club gear to me from the same owner.
 
Nabbed a Denon DR-M12HX Cassette deck today at Goodwill. It came with the manual. It was only 4.99, nice deck, I have found 3 different HX Pro Cassette decks in the last couple of months all for under 6 bucks each.

i found a denon dr-m10hx about 2 months ago for $4 in a local thrift. good recorder with hx-pro, etc. no manual, tho.
 
Another fix for my tuner addiction!

At the GW in Maplewood today, a very cool Onkyo T-4055. Good condition, and sounds and works great.

Probably won't supplant my KT-8300, but is quite a nice piece.

Yamaha NS-70T speakers.

Picked up a pair of Yammie NS-70T & stands for $30 at a trift today. Very nice sounding. Only a few small dings on rear & one mid pushed in a little.:music:

Cross your fingers for me folks .... local SA is supposed to contact me tomorrow with a price on a Pioneer SA-9500. Looks complete except it has a toggle power switch instead of the original push button. Have no idea if it powers up. It was in the recycle bin believe it or not so even if it doesn't work at least I could save it from being melted down / ground up or whatever they do with 38-lb integrated amps!
 
Proton D940

I trade for a Proton D940 40wpc receiver from Craigslist for a bottle of 40 Olde English :D for a total of $3 after tax from the convenience store.

This receiver sounds great (especially for $3!). It doesn't sound as clean and smooth as my Marantz 8000, but is extremely dynamic and detailed.

There are some static when I turn the balance and volume knob that I am hoping to be able to remove with some deoxit. :yes:
