Has Plan 9 From Outer Space lost it's place as the worst movie ever made?

Just be glad you were not one of those poor unfortunates (possibly your own parents even) who shelled out a few bucks to see it at the drive in in 1965/66.

But you'll always have "Santa Claus versus the Martians". BTW, Pia Zadora's first real acting gig. (Bet you never knew she had a real degree from an Ivy League school either.)

You have not suffered bad until you have seen "The Sorceress". That to my mind dethroned Plan 9 from Top of the heap of badness.

But then, there is Andy Warhol's "Empire". Just the synopsis sums that up. It makes "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" sound appealing...."...Please,...pas the ketchup.."

If Hollywood, which hasn't had an original idea in years, decides to resurrect MANOS, HANDS OF FATE, I have the perfect cast for this multi-million dollar extravaganza. Playing the part of TORGO would be, who else, Tom cruise. The part of the MASTER, Nicholas Cage, and portraying one of the MASTER'S minions would be the talentless Julia Roberts. Of course, the producers would have to use someone else's legs, when needed.
The husband and wife, Keifer Sutherland and Sandra Bullock.

The money for the film would be provided by the Monsanto Corporation. Similar to the manure salesman who funded the original movie.

I just watched the first minute or two of "Zombie Ass:..." I have to say the shots of swaying Japanese girl's rear ends in the opening credits go a long way to redeeming what otherwise looks like a ridiculously sick movie.

I'll have to watch the rest of it to see if the few seconds of the opening credits are the high point of the whole thing. I strongly suspect that may be the case.

Ah, I just went and watched some more of it. I vaguely remember watching it before, or at least some of it, when it was out on LaserDisc. Lousy waste of time, indeed. It doesn't help that the subtitles are atrociously done, either.

Agreed. And the other one that came out right around the same time with the exact same premise.

Did you mean Super 8??

Four words. "Manos, Hands of Fate"

Hell yes!

MST3K did a classic riff on Manos. Torgo was a regular visitor afterwards.

speaking of MST anyone remember the Giant Leeches?

Yes, slight return!

(bet the master won't approve)

Thanks for posting that. God, the first time I watched MST3K, me and a buddy were drinking those pony Michelob's, and drinking was new for us. I laughed so hard, my ribs hurt for a week.

Brilliant stuff.

I just remembered another turkey monster movie from the 1950's.
The Monster That Challenged the World (1957)
Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3RpzGcMjaQ

Filmed at the The Salton Sea in Southern California in it's hay day as a recreational destination. It is your basic prehistoric no-budget 1950's monster movie who's monster, sucks it victims dry like a leech. It features one of my favorite character actors Hans Conried as Dr. Jess Rogers.

(IMDB)
An earthquake in the Salton Sea unleashes a horde of prehistoric mollusk monsters. Discovering the creatures, a Naval officer and several scientists attempt to stop the monsters, but they escape into the canal system of the California's Imperial Valley and terrorize the populace.

When I was checking up on this movie on IMDB I discovered they have remade this turkey, and with oodles of money to spend they have apparently made it even worst. This movie must be so bad that nobody picked it up for distribution and it is going directly to DVD.

(IMDB)
Dead Sea (2014)
"A Marine Biologist is assigned to investigate the mysterious deaths of marine life in an inland salt water lake that have been attributed to a creature thought to have been the stuff of legend."

The one trailer shows this monster has a taste for mostly naked women, go figure :sigh:

One of the worst movies I can recall trying to watch is: "The Sound Of Thunder". Anyone else ever see this stinker? I rented it from a video store based on the strength of the cast (Ben Kingsley and Edward Burns) and on the fact that it was an adaptation of a Ray Bradbury short story. One reviewer summed it up perfectly when he wrote: "The Sound Of Thunder, the smell of garbage." My sentiments exactly. This one will forever remain high on my list of crappy movies.

The worst recent movie I have watched is Pacific Rim. I didn't know there could be such bad acting these days. :thumbsdn:
Not a contender for 'badness'. Was pretty well received (72% on RT), did well at the box office, and was a pretty enjoyable movie overall, despite the real lack of character development (it's an action movie, so 'character development'? Meh, who cares?)

If you want to hammer on giant robot movies, I'd point to the Transformers genre.

For 'bad movies', nothing can touch 'The Room'. Nothing. In a class all by itself.

"The Quick and the Dead" with Gene Hackman and Sharon Stone. Hackman must have owed the IRS money or something to be involved in that peice of crap. She shoots him and YOU CAN SEE A HOLE IN HIS SHADOW!

I saw it for FREE and felt ripped off.
