HH Scott Owners Thread

I had mentioned earlier in the thread that I have three 222c's, all of them fully restored and work great.

Wanting something comparable, modern and solid state......I bought a Schiit Aegir. It's a 20 watt solid state class A amp. Sounds great for low-medium level listening. Similar to the Scott in that you're not gonna blow out the windows but very satisfying at low-moderate levels. Great midrange, bass etc.....like the Scott.

I had the Aegir in my main system for months (instead of the 222c) which is quite unprecedented. After some talking with a friend of mine who just picked up a 222c. He digs it but has a couple problems with it. This made me finally put one of my 222c's back in my main system. I was very curious because I really thought the Aegir may have bumped the Scott off of the throne.

Not a chance. The 222c immediately proved it can do things the Aegir just cannot. The purity, transparency, detail, smoothness and overall 'genuine' quality to the sound was there in spades. It was like I got a new amp all over again.

Today is HH Scott appreciation day in my house. (again)

HH Scott appreciation day again in my house today! I was just reminded how much influence the phase inverter tubes have. After swapping some other components in my system I went back to the Tung-Sol 6U8's.

It's hard to stop listening.....

Can anyone give me some insights into the hh Scott 135 stereomaster control? A mouthful for such a little box. There's not much out there, except it's full history detailed by the company.

Is that... It for this little device? It seems to have some neat features. Variable loudness or volume, so a preamp or a tone control. Mono and reverse stereo. Not useless things.

So why no discussion?

Probably no discussion because they are impossible to find. I don't know how many Scott made, but I've yet to see one come up for sale anywhere in the 6 months I've been looking for one.

It's just a passive preamp used to hook up 2 mono amps for stereo, so not a whole lot to talk about anyway.

If and when I find one, it will make me a heck of a lot more motivated to rebuild my HH Scott 210F. Of course I'll need one more of those then too :)

I have a few Scott pieces as well. A 299C, 222C, two 210F, a 710 turntable, S2 and S3 speakers,
a 399 receiver with 335 multiplex adapter, a 299A and a 340 (first model with round dial and gold face).
Always liked Scott tube audio. I refurbished all of these and use them all.

Soooo, we need pics to drool over!

I only have one, a 299A. But what a one it is. I sent if off to Dave Gillespie for a total rework and he performed magic.

Nice looking 299a!!!. especially in it's wood cabinet.

I see you are using a Sonos Connect. After a year of on again/off again success with my Scott mpx unit, I hooked up my Connect to the 399 and love the pairing.

Sonos Connect thru the grant tube dac to the Scott is great. I have about 10TB of flac files on a nas that I can stream and then there is tidal for the stuff I don’t have on flac.

Couldn't say for sure but my $ says very late tube which would be fantastic.

No pictures from the back of the console? That would have helped more. Tell him to take the back panel off.

I'm not going to guess because it could be either one. When Scott went solid state, they used a lot of the same parts from the tube units.

So just got a better picture:
Model is 2103 and SN is 261247

That's interesting...... if I"m reading those model plates correctly, one unit is a 2103 while the one in the other thread is a 2031. Almost makes one wonder if the model numbers may have been 'typo'd' by the plate printer, or if, in fact, there were two different models of what looks to be essentially the same unit.

Will be interesting to note if this unit is also a 'Hybrid' vs all tube or all solid state? That might clarify the distinction in model number designations..........
