HH Scott Owners Thread

I think this was Scott's early point of dipping their toes into the SS world. Mostly all final output sections at that time from what I've been told. I guess the SS pre-stages and tuners were still under development.
 
Anyone here have experience/opinions on Telefunken 6U8's for phase inverter tubes?

In my 222c, of all the 6U8's I've tried NOS Tung-Sol's have worked best in my system. A full sound that really impacts the performance of the amp.

Yesterday I received some Telefunken 6U8's and they're the closest sound to rival the Tung-Sol's performance in my system......at about twice the price.
 
My first piece of tube gear and I have a lot of questions.
I've been looking everywhere on the net and come up empty handed.
Anyone know where I can find an owners manual so I can learn how to use this HH Scott 333-B tuner properly?
Looking forward to the day I find a good deal on a matching integrated amp for this tuner.

There are so many HH Scott tuners. Here is the list am/fm units if you haven't seen it:

The 333's are nice since they have mpx built in.

Good luck finding an owners manual, you'll just have to keep watching ebay. Is there something you need help with in particular?

The integrated amps are awesome. There are a lot of them out there so a good deal is possible. They are usually unrestored though so keep that in mind if you find one you like.

Thanks. For less than $100 am feeling good about this. Owner says fuse blown. Kinda off topic but the guys mom, 86 years old, lives in a high crime area (they’re moving her out of her old home). Will need to take Dad’s 73 F250, among other things. Am changing rear end on my own 74 F-100, so Dad’s truck is the backup plan. He’s 82 and still drives the ‘73 !!

Hi all. Not been around here much for a decade or so. I became content with the audio gear I had and started putting my time and effort into playing the saxophone.

Recently though, I picked up a Scott 299C. I have yet to plug it into the variac to bring it up. It looks pretty original underneath. I am contemplating a re-build, but I really don't have time to get into it.
Anyone know of a good place that might do a reasonable priced re-cap?
Yes, someone engraved their SS# on the faceplate. "Don't steal my stereo, but here,.... have my identity"

There are a good amount of folks here on AK from the Western Mass area and I remember seeing a thread about a group or meetup in Belchertown but alas that was awhile ago and I can't find the thread.

If it were me I would create a new thread with a title like "Tube tech help in Western MA" and you should get some suggestions.

You could maybe reach out to these folks and see if they could point you to a repair tech who they would vouch for
