The 299D was shipped with either the larger or smaller transformers. With the smaller transformers, they were essentially a 233 with more features. Actually, a 233 was a good bargain. Now, here is some real trivia. There were a few 233 amplifiers which were fitted with a set of 7868 output tubes. I have seen them; I don't have one. The chassis was sometimes stenciled "7591" with a sticker or label which specified the 7868.
Scott and Sherwood had so many variations. We don't have all of the documentation any more. But I am sure that the service centers got the updates. For that matter, there were AT LEAST 7 versions of the 299C. But a careful eye can always equate what you have to a specific schematic. For instance, I have a 299C which is essentially a 299D/LK-72B with minor differences.
