How good...or not is this TT?

Although not familiar with that specific model i would be thinking it's an excellent TT. A QL-A7 is my daily driver, but with the servo arm his table is an entirely different animal.

The OP might want to take a look at the big picture in regards to this JVC table. If the seller is the original first owner and kept the JVC in such nice condition both in looks and performance the possibility of finding another similar table in his neck of the woods could be slim. One owner tables are getting harder to find and if not unreasonable the premium asked by the seller may not be all that far off especially if the JVC comes with a nice cartridge, box/packing material, accessories, manual etc and no risk of damage in shipping is involved. Also my guess since the seller is the original owner you are dealing with a "mature" adult that had a strong interest in audio/analog and was financially able to purchase some nice audio equipment and maintain it. I compare it to finding a nice one owner/low milage used car that was always garaged/serviced.

JVC made outstanding gear. It really looks 'fine'! Very 'Very' nice.

Arm, all lights, all functions performed flawlessly at audition. Plus the table does not have a single scratch or chip on that lovely rosewood plinth.

You are absolutely correct I think! Although I have been very fortunate to acquire 2 tables (my Denon DP45-F and Harman Kardon T60c) both from the original owners this is maybe becoming more rare - at least in any given local market. But as you say, I don't have to ship this....it was owned by an older gentleman who appreciated decent gear.....all good!

So it came home with me today. He accepted my offer and even though I only wanted the table, I purchased his entire system.

Now the fun begins.

Thanks - it is a real looker! But it's a large table - much larger then I realized!

Not any more - 2 now. But I like the number so it stays!!

Yea it has a pretty low hour Shure M95HE on it. He even still had the original box for the cart...screw driver, etc.

All the gear is pretty well near mint - manuals, etc.
Amp is a Yamaha CA-510
Tuner is a JVC T-X1 FM/AM Stereo
Cd is a Sony CDP C625 w/remote
Cassette is a Technics RS TR555 HX Pro
Speakers - very much the weakest link I think are GTR MK45 3 Way Air Suspension - I have never heard of GTR - you?

Yep that TT is a monster in terms of size. Takes a hell of a large butcher block. My QL-Y7 is the same size and even heavier.

No question that is what I am going to do! I never intended to keep any of this...didn't want it in the first place....but he was adamant on selling the entire system all together.

I already have a secondary system so more equipment is not needed.

I didn't mention he also threw in 3 cases of recorded cassettes - so whoever purchases the Technics is going to get some tunes!!

And also about 100 lp's - a lot of UK electronic stuff that I don't personally get

But a good number of classic rock stuff too - MoFi Beatles and Supertramp and lots of original pressings - Alan Parsons, Moody Blues, Manfred Mann, Beatles, etc.

3kitty those UK electronic LPs might not be to your taste but I'm sure there will be someone that collects them, might be worth posting for sale on Barter Town. The other LPs which includes some MoFi and classic rock original pressings could add up in value by the looks of LP prices today.

Yes, I agree. I realize that just because I'm not enthralled with them doesn't mean they don't have value. In fact a good friend of mine is very much into this. If he doesn't need or want them he can likely help me with collectibility and value. Even some sealed stuff in there. It's research time!!

And the records mostly are in excellent condition - both media and jacket.
The K-Tel are a little rough though :tears:

3kitty like you did for the JVC table you have to wheel and deal to get something good. I'v seen people buy turntables and were only interested in the cartridge or headshell that were worth more than the table itself. Since all the other equipment is near mint you should have a good chance of at least getting your money back if not a little extra.
