How good...or not is this TT?

A question for you JVC experts - and please pardon my ignorance!!!

Does my "new" QL-Y5F TT have speed adjustment pots? I downloaded and glanced at the service and owners manual but I did not see any reference to that.

My assumption would be that a table like this would have them. And if so a good cleaning of that and the rest of the table inside would be a prudent thing to do?

This table has never been serviced so is a cleaning/re-lubing where needed a good idea?
I know some might say leave well enough alone!

I own the QL-Y7. Amazing machine. For speed control, there are no user accessible adjustments. Mine has just a display of selected speed. That is it. Its microprocessor constantly monitors speed so you can relax. In other words, it is designed to baby you. If yours is like mine then it rides on magnetic bearings: because it floats, no lube needed. Again, it is pampering you. I say, ‘Let it do its job that it knows so well.’ It has never had a temper tantrum or acted up so if I were you then I would leave it well enough alone.

I thought the Mag bearings came in with the 66/77, and were not present on the 5/6/7?

I have not touched my QL-Y5F - it is running beautifully...

Correction - I have filled it with plasticine, and changed the feet for some Audio Serenity ISO-9H's (5 of them) - but I did not touch electronics or mechanicals.

If it works as designed then leave it alone. I had to deoxit some of the buttons on arrival, but since then nothing. Just play it and enjoy.

I just wanted to update those who were curious about what this TT actually ended up costing me in the end.....once I sold off items I didn't want from this package deal.

I have actually decided to keep the Yamaha CA-510 Integrated and the Sony changer and the Technics cassette deck (really more for a slice of nostalgia).

So the Yamaha 510 / Sony changer / Technics cassette deck /
20 cassettes / 50 lp's / and most importantly the JVC QL-Y5F table have ended up being free really.

I sold most of the lp's / the speakers / 3 clutches of cassettes / and the JVC tuner and I have made my money back on the purchase price of the package.....and a little more actually. Which gives you an indication it didn't end up costing me a ton of $ in the first place.

I feel fortunate to have found a deal like this. Not having been able to work for the past 6 years (health) - this helps fund my hobby and passion for good music and nice vintage gear.

I appreciate the well wishes through-out this thread and I hope you can share in my good fortune - I think I finally got one of those "scroes" often mentioned on this site. And for the record after I made my initial offer for this package I remained silent - he contacted me after it didn't sell for a bit and really wanted to move it and I asked him for his best price. I took him up on his offer and he and I were both delighted!!
