How long has it been since you bought a piece of gear?

About 30 hours....
$10.00 Pioneer CS-99As at a church sale.
That's about $0.10/lb or so :D

After a while it's amazing how "score" turns to "junk" pretty fast if you're not selective.

Quite true. I think most of us hit the ground running when the interest in vintage first grabs us. This leads to a few "regrets" lying around.

4 Days, and I've already got the itch... :D:D.

I payed for my Grado monday morning this week and it only cost me $2050.00 per ounce:scratch2::D; a Nitty Gritty is next, and soon.

LOL.. I agree to that.. Ive got a pair of Community speakers still laying around. Bought them new. They are a really great pair of speakers for doing dance or something like a wedding, but I'm gonna lose my ass on them if I ever get them sold.

I will still buy something if I see a great deal. Like the JBL C36 speakers I snagged. They weren't something I was looking for, or wanted, but they are one of those things you have to be crazy if you pass them. I was intending on flipping them, but I ended up liking them so much I've kept them.

Picked up a pair of KEF 104/2s with the butyl rubber INNERS and outers on Sunday for $700.00. Lusted many a day for these. Said "F#@k it" and pulled the trigger! First real speaker I've ever owned. Mostly now I spend money on tweaks/components (caps, resistors, tubes, connections) trying to improve what I have, as I too am happy with what I already have. And now that I have the Kefs to go with the tube amp, preamp and phono-preamp.......hehehehehehe. Most expensive tweak: I just spent 10K on a real listening room. Expensive (to me), YES! But I'm single again! However, I have spent that on a system in the past (when I was single, young, and working overseas), and I have learned over the years, the best, most expensive system in the world will sound mediocre in a poor listening environment. Now that I build my own gear, the system I now employ is probably less expensive than anything I have ever owned, especially when you take into consideration inflation and what today's dollar is worth. I'm now in the process of building a 5.1 or 7.1 tube preamp for the new room. Will purchase a big flat panel, and will build the addtional two amps I need for the other channels, but after that I will devote funds to media (new LPs), as I cannot possibly see the need to ever purchase or change gear again. It has taken 35 years (yes I'm over 50!) to get to this point, I only hope now I live to enjoy it!

About 8 months here. I got a second-job to purchase my rig; now I look for a tuna and cassette-player to complete the "stack". Stopped looking at GW everyotherday. I peek in those places about once every 2 months to make sure I don't find anymore $10 JBL L150a's. ;)

Otherwise I'm a happy camper. And CL is just hilarious in the MidWest.

:)

The mail today. A second CM-75M Microphone showed up from an eBay purchase. So either today or Sunday night when the auction closed.

Before that a couple months when I bought a Sony PS-Q3 compact TT for my little travel system.

Tomorrow I head off to Portland for a day of LP buying at about 1/2 dozen used record shops and a Night time Record Show. Doubt I will find any gear to buy since I'm not looking for anything and anything would be priced at retail.

But I will most likely come home with another couple hundred dollars in vinyl. That could be 4-5 LP's or it could be 50 no telling until the crate flipping starts.

Not even 24 hours. I committed to building the AK Collaborative Indignia speakers last night, and purchased two Dynaco MKIII amps a few days before. This is a sickness.

yesterday...a Pilot piece...and today I calculated what else could I buy if I sold everything...except the speakers of course...no one gets my Melonheads.

i picked up an HK 430 off CL two days ago . beautiful condition . it`s doing computer duty now , sounds great

...I was buying constantly, but now I've gotten to where I am not buying anything because I am so happy with where I am at. I am however looking for one particular amp, and am just waiting to find one at a reasonable price...Once I have that amp, I'm going to be very hard pressed to buy anything for a long while because I am just so pleased with everything...

Kinda in the same boat. I'd like to pick up one more amp- and with luck, will do so on Sunday.

And one CDP I'd like to try out- but that's far from pressing.

Other than that, it's mostly backup pieces for spare parts. I'm content with everything else I own.

That doesn't mean I would pass up a good deal. It's not much effort to offer it up here on AK, with the knowledge it'll be going to a good home.

And though I don't have the room for any more speakers, if a pair of upper-end KEFs or IMFs or FRIEDs fell on me, I'd take them home.

Just fine tuning now and working on my album collection. I am sure at some point I will realize I have too many albums and start disposing of the ones that are more or less space eaters.

I'm close to bursting on that front too. I need to be more selective, or move a few albums on to AK members.

I think you need a Pilot SS integrated for the bedroom! I know a guy....

I can quit any time I want. There is no problem :D

Actually, there was a spell where I went for a couple months without really buying anything. That's come to an end, as recently I bought something I just could not pass up, and I'll be buying one more thing that I actually need.

After I get a new CDP, I think i might be set for a while.
