How many watts is your Amplifier @8ohms

I fear my most used amp wouldn't even deliver 0.1 W @ 8 Ohm. It still good enough to drive most of my headphones, though.

Can't help you there, however most headphones require more than 100mW

OTB: Then you must either be used to comparatively inefficient headphones or listen in very high volumes. Mind you, even an old AKG K240M already delivers 88 dB(SPL) at 1 mW...

I guess I'm referring to some the of larger High-End headphones, I've seen some go has high as a 1W requirement. In either case, this poll was really intended for amplifiers driving loudspeakers, not headphones.

Thanks, the 501s are a really nice setup, so warm and clear, but really a lot of mac amps are like that.

Agreed. Sorry for your lose. My mom is 80, not sure how much longer......Turns out, out her four kids, I'm the only one that steps up. That is an obligation and is rewarding. Needless to say, not happy with my siblings.

80 watts per channel @ 8 ohms for my Denon. I don't use anywhere close to that, even though my Infinity RSb speakers could take it, my ears cannot.

I wish I could find it now, but it was in an old stereo magazine. It had a graph age V.S. watts required. The higher the age, the lower the watts. Some truth to it. I don't crank to 120db, like I used to 15-20 years ago. Now loud for me is 95db. Normal level for me is 80-85db.

So in actuality my main amp is an Onkyo A-10 Dual Mono monster rated at 85 watts per but her headroom is enormous with the big power supply caps totaling 52k uF.
