Being the owner of some AR-9's, Vandersteen 2C's and some factory-rebuilt Ohm 4's, I'd love to see some shootout's between those particular speakers.

Sounds great! Do you want us all to come to your place on Saturday or Sunday? :naughty:

Exactly!!!

And it DID go beyond that limit several times during this thread.

I've got no problem with "I absolutely do not like them at all", especially after a nice listening session like the author of this thread had set up.

What I do have a problem with are comments like, "white van speaker", "kabuki", "worse speaker I've ever heard", "sounded worse than a single AR1", "time to break out the cotton balls", etc. Believe it or not, these are ALL comments about the losing speaker in this thread.

I'm ALL for more speaker vs speaker threads, if people can keep it under control. Just remember, "all audio, no attitude!"Retro

Not to back any bad comments but you do need to take some comments with a grain of salt.
In a speaker shootout some things said are probably going to be a little harsh on the loosing speaker.

If I remember though the "White van" comment was in regards to kelly driving his white van, and to be
honest I still have hope for my HPM's with some tweaking but you have to be honest to, they have your
typical Kabuki look to them and while it may be a harsh comment it's quite possable that it was the worst
speaker a certain person has heard. Don't know about the single AR thing but I've heard people say they
needed cotton balls when listening to klipsch or even some Altec's. So that comment wouldn't bother me.

Well I believe this is all a disservice to the community if we can not be able to speak our minds. 4 people had the exact same opinion on that day yet everyone that likes or has HPM's seems to want to disregard our unanimous opinions. Why did it get escalated to those bold and negative statements about he HPM's well because everyone that did not like our unanimous opinion kept pushing it saying the speakers were bad, placement was wrong, etc. Funny, same room, same material, same amps, same positioning etc. yet somehow biased against the HPMs for some reason in your mind. All this does is make those of us that do have an honest opinion keep quite so we don't have to be called Jackholes and liars. If you want to fill this place with people who say nice things about every speaker and are virtually lemmings go ahead. I personally would like people to be able to give honest onions so I do not end up with a pair of speakers I hate which I almost did.

Personally I think this has been a great thread, I learned a lot about several sets of speakers and also a lot about several people on this board.

Look, let's just stop right here. Justifying some of the comments does not make them right, or, go away. As a matter of fact, it opens the door to have them spewed again. Let's just NOT do it! All audio, no attitude!

I was wondering why this thread was still going until I saw it has morphed into a food thread. I loves me some honest onions.

Don't know about the single AR thing

hate to say it, but the ar1 did sound better, just my opinion, all the speakers in the house sounded better, although some sounded waaayy better and others were just a little bit better. I think KFA listed his preference in a specific order of how they sounded and I personally agree with that ranking in my preference to the sound of all the speakers.

the ar1 was just above the sony amp 60's and the 60's sounded better than the hpm's.

onions are like opinions and everyone has one

KNOCK IT OFF! Honest opinions are not allowed here.

where is this happening? My AR90's will be done and we need to listen to the W90's. Sounds like another white van trip. :D
