Yup. I got a good wiff of burning sulfer. Enough to lock my lungs up for a few seconds. Kinda like getting the wind knocked out of you. Its amazing any of us survived these toys.
Sulfur dioxide, "fart gas". Blended in water becomes sulfuric acid.

The children of my late father's best friend (the friend was married with an American) had this one and I loved to play with it. Now it is an expensive Collector's item...

The Monkeemobile was not available in Germany. I wish I had this toy!

That pull tab at the very top, with the slots cut into it, on either side of the rivet,... Those made great little flyers!
You'd break the tab off from the pull ring. You could then take the broken off tab, insert it into that slot in the pull ring, pull the ring back, and let it go. It would take off and fly for a good 20'+. They'd fly like a mini-Frisbee. I shot a lot of those things off as a kid.

I too did the same. We also made homemade guns with a stick, a nail,a rubber band and clothespin and used the round part of the pull tab as the projectile. They would break skin sometimes.

Did you ever build a match stick gun from a clothes pin?
They shot flaming strike-anywhere matches, anywhere.

the part labeled "shell" was used to cock the gun prior to loading an unlit match.

This was the perfect toy to teach a kid to make,... one who lives in tinder dry wild fire country (me).
