If your happy with your system.....Leave a post

If anything I'm almost too happy with my main set up. It's so much better than my other rigs that they very very rarely get played. Mainly they get turned on occasionally just to make sure everything still works but never listened to.

i am happy with my system but i am still working on getting a good TT.
Speakers:
-homeade Altec/Ev monsters two 515Bs in each cab with a SM120A horn fed with a Ev 1823M driver for mids and a Ev ST-350A tweeter for the highs on each side.

Amp:
-McIntosh MC-2100 (still needs a bit of TLC)

Sources:
-Junky Kenwood CD Player (getting a better one but happy with this one)
-Ipod
-Thorens TD-160 TT (getting a Dual 1229 soon)
-Yamaha TX-900 Tuner

All in all i am quite happy with it, just looking for a couple more source upgrades

I make very few changes in my main system--just when something conks out for good. ARC SP9II, XLS 1000, KT 815, AR77XB/Grace 707/V15V, CC4000OSE, David Markle Custom speakers. I'm enjoying my "home theater" system, too. Panasonic Blu BD755, AUX619R, Soundmates .375 (identical to the Koss M-80s, given to me by their designer Don Kliewer).

I have been very happy with my system. I had two pair of speakers that I kept switching in and out of my system. One pair was the Monitor Audio RS6's which are very open sounding. They sound good but are tough to integrate in my small room. They also tend to be more leading edge transient and with less decay of the notes. My Mobile Fidelity OML1's are good but have a slightly recessed midrange and are better with the decay of a note than the initial attack.

I bought a pair of speakers on a whim and now I am very happy with my system. I bought a pair of JBL Studio 530's and they image better and have better soundstaging than my previous speakers. They are at a nice midpoint between the fast sounding RS6's and the OML1's fuller more developed sound. The Studio 530's make music more enjoyable because they do timing so right. Music that may have sounded confusing or congested now are easier to enjoy.

The Marantz SA8001 is a very nice sacd/cd player. The Krell S-300i is an impressive int. amp. My Rega Planar 2 is heavily modded and the Grado Statement Sonata and Moon 110LP preamp makes for a very nice analog experience. Now with the addition of the Studio 530's I am pleased.

I am happy with my system for now, 'til the next upgrade bug bights me.

My system:

Pioneer sd-9200 dvd
Onkyo integra power and pre amps
ADS speakers
Ixos gamma geometry wires all around
Oneac power conditioner 6.25A rating
Sennheiser HD580 phones (bad for hearing loss, so I try not to use them often)

I hope you too find your audio-heaven...

I'm totally happy with my system & will never think of changing it!!! Oh..........what?..........__________has just come out with a new__________?..........Well, if I sell my___________'s maybe I can get that instead.........:)

I'm not just happy with mine, I'm astonished every time I fire the thing up. It just delivers.

All I'd consider doing is having some KAB mods done on the 1200. Nothing more.

:D

Delivers and doesn't skimp on the toppings... Oh yeah.

It's really-nice when you're able to choose the music you play based on the MUSIC, and not based on how it sounds through your system (I'm playing Hendrix's "Cry Of Love" right now  ).

Count me in. I went for almost 2 years with no change. Recently I have made some small tweaks and have swapped around a few pieces which I already own. For the short term I may look at adding a sub, but I am happy as a pig in ****.

I love my system ... except for the fact that I gotta bust open the amp and hit all the controls with contact cleaner. Yet again.

Love my rig- JVC JR-S300 receiver, Technics equalizer (cheap but clean from about 1990), Pioneer PL-530 turntable, a pair of Infinity Q1's and a pair of Realistic speakers from about 1984 plus various rotating gear like tape machines and cd players. (I have also, however, just got infatuated with this dumpy Emerson all-in-one from the early '70's.) I've been mixing and matching a long time. It's sometimes a little embarrassing to admit because it's all cheap stuff (nowadays) but this stuff just sounds so good when I spin a record on it. I used to be done with a piece of equipment almost as soon as I got it working properly but since I put this together I actually quit acquiring for over a year. I forget it's a stereo.
Unfortunately, I've got so much other gear layin' around and my wife somehow doesn't see the need to have a stereo in every room. I swear I don't understand that woman sometimes.

That's one thing that's held me back from buying a tube amp the past few months (That and the fact that my solid-state setup sounds awesome). I'm concerned about the upkeep as well as the heat they put out. My Sansui puts out almost no heat at all (The only time it does is if you put something on top and block the vents... Otherwise, the thing is usually so-cool it pees ice cubes). I want a tube amp though, even if only for a couple hours at a time. But I also want to try a couple different early-solid-state amps as well. 39wpc sounds fantastic through my speakers, but it's just too-much power for the room. I need something in the 25w-30w range. I want to be able to turn the amp up more than I've been able to with my current rig. Still sounds wonderful right now though. Addictingly-so (Playing Aerosmith's "Rocks" as I type... 24/96 vinyl-rip), but I AM on the hunt for a few amps, depending on what I can find out there that suits me and my other gear. I just don't have to rush, thankfully.

But that aside, I couldn't be happier with how everything is sounding. I'm having so-much fun listening to music these days. The past three months has been total audio bliss. Everything just sounds "right". No more upper-bass bumps, muddy mids or disconnected highs, and the soundstage is perfect (and not two centimeters wide like it is on certain speakers). Plus, I'm up to my ears in dynamics ( :D ). And the sound is so-alive and organically-rich. Fleshed-out. Absolutely-perfect separation and timbre (which has made harmonies a thing of beauty). Guitars and other instruments have enough weight to them. Loads of depth. A lot of those old tube-era alnico woofers are much-better performers than I ever imagined them to be. I finally have a system that truly gets out of the way of the music (and the "emotionality").
