If your happy with your system.....Leave a post

I so happy with mine now I haven't even contemplated any new gear and have passed up some because I just don't need it.

It took several kicks at the can but I finally pieced together a system that I am truly ecstatic with the results. My goal was to build a largely vinyl based system…analog source is a VPI Classic 2 with Benz glider cart and a Furutech Ag-12 phonocable leading to a Pathos “In the Groove MK.II” battery powered phono stage. From there via Wirewolrd Silver Eclipse cabling to a Pathos TT RR version hybrid class A integrated amplifier with NOS Telefunken tubes at the input stage. More Wireworld Silver speaker cabling out to some Acoustic Zen Adagio JR speakers…the entire system has incredible synergy and a zero noise floor – very happy with it !

It doesn't look like much, but I'm quite happy with my system because it sounds great!

Dual 506 manual belt drive TT with an AT120E cart.
NAD C565BEE CD-USB player with Wolfson DAC's.
Pro-Ject FM tuner. MCM switchbox. ART Audio DJ-II phono preamp.
Dayton APA-150 stereo power amp (formerly Emotiva BPA-1).
SDH 6 - acoustic suspension 8" two-way speakers.
Audio Engine speaker stands filled with lead shot.

That is a nice setup, Celt!

Luv the end tables for sure.

"Happy" is relative ...

Killer sound, but not enough knobs to play with ...

system-oct12-001.jpg

Just got done cleaning and refurb on a 31 band eq - another 66 some odd sliders should help satisfy my craving some ...

I'm pretty happy with my current mancave system:

Sony TA-E80ES pre-amp driving a pair of TA-N80ES power amps, bridged as monoblocs
Sony ST-S730ES tuner
Yamaha T-2 tuner
Sony DVP-S9000ES SACD/CD player
Sony PS-X700 turntable with Benz Glider cart
Thiel 3.6 speakers
A dbx 228 single band compander
NAD cassette player (just for looks and to fill a hole - never used)

I could always use another tuner or just move the McIntosh MR71 tube tuner in from the family room, but the next real upgrade will be to the dbx compander - I'd get a three or four band unit with the impact restoration.

If I won the lottery I'll do Spendor speakers and Parasound mono-blocs.

The bedroom system is being assembled now. A Marantz 1060 integrated amp is being recapped with a Sony SCD-C2000ES SACD/CD player, a Sony ST-J75 tuner playing through wall-mounted Infinity monitors.

The family room sports a Sony STR-6200F receiver driving a pair of Infinity Primus 362 tower speakers with an Oppo DVD/SACD/CD/HDCD player and a Sony PS-X70 table with a Benz MicroAce cart. The aforementioned MR71 graces the system but the Sony receiver's tuner section is so good that I seldom use the tube tuner.

I'm very pleased with the setup that I have in rotation now.

NAD CD player
NAD 1700 pre/tuner
Nad 2600a amp
Anthony Gallo reference SA amp
Anthony Gallo reference 3.1 speakers
Marantz 6350q TT

I'm just trying to pick the right DAC to go from my appletv to to preamp so I can stream MOG from my iPhone or ipad.

The Buddha tells us we can only reach Enlightenment, and stop the cycle of reincarnation, when we cease to pine for material things. Probably explains why orange has never been my color ......

Happy with my system at the moment.

Fiio D3
Pioneer SX-990
Advent 3 or SPL Monitor 4000

Probably not the most accurate system, but it sure does sound great.

I'm happy enough with it that everything I pick up nowadays either goes to my parents or my girlfriend's system!

I am content to the point where I have even stopped looking. My system is listed in my sig. The only thing I may look for in the future is a monoblock to run center channel when I get surround set up.

I do want to get time to rearange my room and do some treetment though.

It ain't perfect, but it does me very well.

Computer for music source, sent via balanced connections out of an M audio 192 audiophile to Carver PM 350, then to russound 4 way 2 input speaker switcher(with impedence protection switched off) to infinity Crescendos 3009. Balanced connection also patched through to the Rotel RB 1080 ST and on to Maggie 1.6 QRs. An unbalanced signal is also directly sent to apt holman Preamp- > Carver M 1.5t, and then on to all the rest of the speakers via Russound 12 way autoformer a/b speaker switcher.

Computer for movie source, sent via unbalanced connections out of another M-audio 192 audiophile to adcom GFP 345->adcom GFA 5300 -> russound 4 way 2 input speaker switcher to NHT 1.1 and Infinity reference 525's (and sometimes to the crescendos or vice versa) An unbalanced line level signal is also patched through to the apt-holman, so 'all the other' speakers can play movie sounds if I want them to.

My truck has a totally 'ghetto' system that sounds very good to my ears, one of those Lepai 4 channel output chip amps, that has usb and sdcard input, sent to a pair of Bose 151 outdoor speakers, (that I frequently throw out the back window into the bed so I have music outdoors) and a pair of Boston Acoustics hd 5 speakers. Sound is great! worlds better then the stock head unit and speakers, (po took out the stock infinity's and put in craptacular pioneer speakers, I just don't care to tear out/re-install a system, so this'll do)

the 'old' computer system, (now that I've built this machine I'm typing on, for movies,) is more and more dis-used, I'll eventually take it down i expect, but for now it's my movie server, and my user interface for my music, but it also has a unbalanced connections from a sound blaster Audigy feeding a Carver TFM-15 directly into a pair of NHT super ones, for the odd time I'm in front of it, and want to watch a youtube or whatnot video.

the 'other' speakers currently consist of

Canton Fonum 200 upstairs in me bedroom.
B&W forgotthenname bookshelves, (in the shed)
KLH 3 way outdoor speakers (in bathroom)
Advent 3 way outdoor speakers (in backyard for pool music)
I also have a pair of von schweikert odd bipole/monopole surround speakers sitting idle, and
Infinity Qa's sitting Idle

Living like a king, I tell you! I'm pretty damn happy with my system(s)

(edit to add) quality of recording is very, very interesting how different different recordings sound. for example, many of the live soundboard dead recordings (bootlegs) have an actual palpable 'presence' that belies the fact that they are high bitrate MP3's, I mean, it actually sounds like I'm at a live dead show, Phils bass sounds like a bass being played live, not recorded in a studio, mickey and bill's drums sound like real drums, the kick drum,,, Kicks. While other soundboard recordings are only 'meh' and have no soundstage or presence or anything.

and, crap recordings, that are victims of the 'loudness wars' really are obvious. "Hurt", sung by Jonny cash is a perfect example... it doesn't sound bad so much as fatiguing, at least until that final crescendo at the end, where it gets totally jagged and sounds craptacular due to the massive clipping/compression in the original master... while on the same system, Emmy lou Harris's version of 'Wrecking ball" from her album 'Wrecking ball" you can clearly hear all the reverb and her voice just makes you melt (or should I say grate) into... while the kick drums are totally flabby and sloppy sounding, (but I love it)

I really enjoy the differences in recordings quality now, and just accept them for what they are, rather then hating because of this or that flaw.

happy?

Audiophiles are never happy with their system.
That is rule number one in the audio world. There is always something better.
There is always the tweek or new something that can make it better and better and better still.
Big amp, no bigger. And so on.

This DP has better cymbals' sound than most.

I'm a happy camper with mine, though there are a few small items I'd like to experiment with. It's become quite complex and can take some upkeep but really delivers.

:thmbsp:I think I've stated that I'm extremely happy with my system many times. Nothing more to say. It's gonna be bumping out a wide range of party tunes 2nite!

I'm happy with my office set up. The only thing I would change is it's location. I'd rather have it in the living room but that scenario has a very low GAF (similar to the WAF).
