I have to say, living about 70 miles from RobRoy, things here are a bit........backward, shall we say?? Kentucky has a long way to go, but we're trying (some of us, anyway, can't speak for all).

I mean, really........it isn't easy to admit that I still miss my Bose 601 series 2 I foolishly sold.

I don't reallyHATE, per se anybody. Well, excepting maybe that goofball Jussie Smollett-But HIM, I'd just love to try to Slap the Stupid outta him, wonder would there be anything left when I got done ? The OTHER exception would be all those Nice young men from Old Indio who call me 3,4 times daily wanting to Lower my Eenterest Rates from the old, mean Bank, or Extend the Warranty on my Car, or help me pay off my Stoodent Debt.... You can't NOT answer these calls anymore, as they virtually ALL "Spoof" local numbers. THEM I would love to "Terminate with Extreme Prejudice", as that uber-creepy dude in "Apocalypse Now"told Capt Willard (Martin Sheen) to do to Col Kurtz. Yeah, a few small, tactical nukes oughta do the trick quite nicely, doncha think ?!? And B4 anybody gets their panties in a wad over what I just said, remember I LOVE hyperbole,& kinda going "Over-The-Top" at times. Take yer brain outta gear & just laff yer arse off. THAT'S what I REALLY meant..
 
The thread has me remembering being on my second Army hitch in S.C during the rise of Anita Bryant and all that when I became conciously self-aware enough to begin to deal with it, and my renewed audio activities were part of the equation thru my sale of a Marantz 3600 pre to a new club in town (The End Zone, if anyone remembers). A late bloomer indeed, sublimating and supressing one's inner desires to passively conform to expectations is a common response to powerful social pressure.

Daaang, 20 years?! I can barely put up with the cat that adopted me around here, more power to you! I missed some Bose speakers I wanted today, looking them up, I came across this thread. Yeah man, just get it out there like you did, I'd imagine that was a relief. I tried being friends with a gay guy that shared a same hobby I do but sex was always on his mind, "I'll get you to the dark side sooner or later" he'd always say haha. It just doesn't work like that I told him over and over again, but that's just him so I couldn't be friends with him, it was constant and got annoying. It was actually him that gave up on being "friends" in the big picture. If you didn't act like you liked him sexually, he just wasn't interested. I'm curious, have you found it hard to be friends with males at all for that reason? Prob not, you sound committed. I don't know, hard to imagine.

I have many gay friends, and really, I haven't thot about it much, and don't notice any difference. However, I am very aware of the difficult time that many of them have had through the years, for various social reasons.

savatage1973, I have been off the grid for a while, and saw your post yesterday. We all are who we are, but not all accept us as we are. I won't share my own experience here, but I have been through some things others never considered, and have seen people "walk away." My full support to you, and thank you for your initial post.
