It's interesting. Here I live near a small town with a Christian university. It has a lot of foreign students from all over the world - Even Venezuela. But the difference between here and Seattle (Or SF) is that there is also diversity of opinion. And all opinions are given freedom of expression. It's a breath of fresh air.

At the end of the day, your right to be who you are, regarding your beliefs, is the most important aspect of a "diverse" hometown than any other. I think it is even more important than racial, sexual or any other kind of outward diversity. That kind of diversity only celebrates the shell you occupy, not the person within.

But I totally agree with your take on Washington, racially diverse but.....

BTW you see where I live and I was born here as well, non of this is anything new to me or odd. I haven't looked anyone differently in my lifetime as every one is different. But as I have meet many who have flocked here I learn about other areas of the country and world where differences are odd, so I understand your need for a thread like this.

I do remember "Shoe", and "Tank McNamara". The second was maybe too much 'on point' for humourless sports fans as it hasn't been carried as much as once was.
 
None of us have the right to judge another forum member's lifestyle as long as they are not breaking any laws.
I am referring to the laws created by human beings passed by the lawmakers in government.

Savatage1973 has contributed to the forum giving helpful advice to others.
He also has a fine choice in dogs since he likes German Shepherds.

FWIW, Before Seattle I lived in Vallejo and a lot of my relatives have lived in Napa for over 100 years. SF was a different place in the 60's and early 70's.

IIRC--wasn't that blonde one Ms. Heidi? I'm sorry if I am wrong, but who is the new one? It's sad that they don't live as long as we do, but there is nothing more loyal than a German Shepherd, and I have had Dobermans and various hunting breeds over the years, but I was born into this world with my parents owning a Shepherd--I learned to walk by grabbing a fist-full of fur and the dog walked me. Maxx is awesome--his "specialty" is small children and little old ladies--they both love him, and don't try to harm one in his presence.

Ms.Heidi's photo is my current avatar.
That photo was taken when she was siting on my lap during the ride home from the farm we purchased her from.
Unfortunately she died suddenly on 2-17-2016.

I don't mean to sound crass or diminish any stress that this may or may not have put on your family, but I can't help but "giggle"--she's just a try-sexual--I'll try anything once--twice if I liked it. But seriously, I can't even begin to know what my sister and I have put my parents through over the years, but they're still our parents and we're still their kids--family FIRST.

God only knows what's in the water. My main residence (up north) is on 1800 acres spanning Mercer and Venango counties and it is serious "fracking" territory. I have been offered the equivalent of a winning lottery ticket for the mineral rights to let them drill, but I won't. I have a small pond in the front yard and a 5 acre lake out back, and I like to know that there are still fish in both and ducks and geese floating on them, and I even have a "family" of Blue Herons that have been here for years.

Is there anything more beautiful than an elderly couple holding hands?? I'm a big ol' softy, but it makes me smile every single time, thinking of the rich tapestry their lives must have, completely unknown to us.

Agreed

We always ask for a booth so we can sit together, if we have to use a table we sit adjacent to each other. Most couples we see sit across from each other, nothing wrong with that I guess, but it's not our style lol.

I don't doubt the sincerity, posting is optional and the naysayers are probably standing aside and not posting as this isn't that sort of discussion, which really belongs elsewhere.

Every "non-political" site I've been on ends up with the longest and most read threads being those that focus on political or cultural issues. People seem to just naturally migrate to a good verbal sparring session. This one fits that bill beautifully, but this site is not the place for it, which is why we are seeing what we are seeing in this thread. I doubt anyone would disagree that this is an EXTREMELY controversial issue - but it will not be one here, thanks to our forum rules.
