I'm Coming Out

As the controversial points cross into religious and political areas, I don't see that discussion having much viability here any more than others that went cultural-centric and succumbed to self-inflicted violations of rules of participation.
As it is, we've done well to make this one a circle of sub-community support.

And show a measure of self restraint - this does not have to be an argument thread,
it's just people being who they are among friends.

I don't mean to sound crass or diminish any stress that this may or may not have put on your family, but I can't help but "giggle"--she's just a try-sexual--I'll try anything once--twice if I liked it. But seriously, I can't even begin to know what my sister and I have put my parents through over the years, but they're still our parents and we're still their kids--family FIRST.

God only knows what's in the water. My main residence (up north) is on 1800 acres spanning Mercer and Venango counties and it is serious "fracking" territory. I have been offered the equivalent of a winning lottery ticket for the mineral rights to let them drill, but I won't. I have a small pond in the front yard and a 5 acre lake out back, and I like to know that there are still fish in both and ducks and geese floating on them, and I even have a "family" of Blue Herons that have been here for years.
let em frack and you will have ducks in the pond and fish floating on it....

with herons tho, Im surprised you have any fish left...

Is there anything more beautiful than an elderly couple holding hands?? I'm a big ol' softy, but it makes me smile every single time, thinking of the rich tapestry their lives must have, completely unknown to us.
my wife and I wonder, that when we are somewhere, like at a car show or a boardwalk, if younger couples see us and go 'aww isnt that sweet, will we still hold hands when we are old'? cuz the reality is, my wife and I are now old. But unlike other poster(s) I dont see her going to a modesty optional beach and whipping anything out anytime soon...not enuf limoncello in the bottle for that!

I had the impression that in the 1970s /1980s audio renaissance, gay dinks (dual income, no kids) and drugs entrepreneurs with excess unaccountable assets were part of the economic support, and at least one of the most influential luminaries was well known to be "family" in the countercultural sense.

I haven't had reservations referring to my SO in postings, neither disguising or highlighting the nature of the relationship beyond a legal marriage and long term relationship. Nor have I done so with public life here in semi-rural Alabama. It doesn't seem something most folks look for or prioritize in daily life any more than trying to discern the private lives and inner thoughts of other aquaintances.
I've heard that folks that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter. That seems generally true for many things in life.

First I've heard this acronym "DINKS". Learn something new every day.

I've said for years my town surely needs a couple of nice gay couples. My backwards, 1 horse burg could use the infusion of comedy, fashion, and general bonhomie I've seen in the gay community.

Good for you - most would take the money and run!

There probably are some. But they are ‘roommates’ or don’t live together because they are afraid of the reaction...

Worked in the restaurant industry in the 70's, more gays than you can shake a stick at lol. Some of my best friends at those jobs were gay, I've never had a problem with someone's sexual preference. Hell, I like my partners to taste like the color purple so who am I to judge lol.

Funny you should mention food service because my neighbor who's a silly fun SOB in his late 60s or early 70s is a waiter and he's gay ,he's Carmen Miranda gay but more importantly he's an audiophile with gear I will never be able to afford ,he is a retired neurosurgeon but waits tables to fight off his lonlieness after his partner of 35 years left him ,he stopped by the other day & complimented my wife's boots before inviting me down to play with his 14 month old scooter dog and smoke a fat one ,dude grows better dope than I do ,he has his own heavy Indica Strain he calls lollypop skunk, it's two tokes and your seat belted to the sofa thanking God for the remote control and multi disc players ,in all the years I've known him and the silly pranks he pulls on me like jumping in between my wife & snuggeling his head on my chest ,or throwing my f-ing shoes in his swimming pool ,I can't remember my wife or I even discussing the fact he's gay ,I don't think that **** matters to normal people anymore ,he has the brand new Dan Diaganisto of Krell system that puts my McIntosh rigs to shame ,his subwoofer weighs over 1,000 pounds of cast metal with medium sized Krell bookshelves that absolutely thunder ,and he's a good dude who brings us the best liver Pattee & Calamari I've ever tasted ,we don't even think about him being gay because he's a most excellent neighbor & friend .
