I am looking for a female connector that will accept a banana plugs to be inserted on each end. Any idea of where I might find something like this?

Thanks, Bob

Go to home depot. They should have a home theater wiring section. In that section, they will have wall plates with banana plugs on each end, for in wall speaker cable runs. Disassemble and enjoy!

This is a great tip for extending many different cable types; I did the same thing to connect two ethernet cables. Much cheaper than buying a longer cable.

Thanks for the info. The reason I want to do this is that my JBL L150's have a twist connector and my other speakers have banana plug/spade connectors. I want to use 10 or 12 ga. cable. So I will add a pig tail about 4" long with an inline banana on the JBL 150's to connect the cable. In that way I'll be able to connect to any speaker in the house for quick changes with the same cable/amp set-up.

have you considered building a speaker switch box and leaving them wired in and just having the switches its not hard to do really ..then maybe build a remote control to switch them ..sorry i am lazy thinking ..

The speakers I will use with this system are rotated in & out from other storage areas in the house. I just want to swap them out once in a while, thanks!

proper skint at the moment but i can do a free promotion of sorts but i will have to talk to my i.t manager first ..he is good though at s.e.o .. not that the site needs it really but every little helps

Why not wire pigtails with female banana connectors to the speakers? That would equal jacks on the speakers and allow you to use the same cables for all speakers without small parts to be lost.

thanks, actually that is the best solution. I've been looking at Parts Express and elsewhere, but I am having problems locating a female connector.

Inline banana socket form MCM? Does anyone know how this works? :scratch2:

Can two banana plugs be inserted into this connector?

If it's the same as the red one here: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/27-4310&cid=prodCrossSell it looks like the other end has a set-screw for securing a bare wire, not a banana. Which is exactly what I'm looking for except the red ones are back-ordered.

I'm looking for the same things, for the same reasons. I don't need to replace the terminals on my old JBLs since they still work, but I'd rather connect pigtails to them just once with some female banana or Pomona plugs and be done with it before I do break them!

I'm not seeing a screw on the black one? The red ones look like the ticket, but I would like black ones also.
