Is it better to burn out than fade away?

Not a Fisher in the loosest sense of the term. Brand is owned by a holding Co, and they license the name. Just like Sansui, etc. Panasonic bought Sanyo (and Fisher which was a division of Sanyo) back in '13 or '14, and immediately shut both entities down. Kept the intellectual properties, but sold the names to a holding Co.
i've got a zenith 50" plasma but made by LG...seems bass ackwards to me but it is what it is.
Except for us here and some of the general public, few people probably recognize Fisher or its logo.
The same with Dual and many other old brands.
In answer to the question, I would prefer for an old respected brand to just burn out.
The only marketing advantage that I can see is that Fisher is an American sounding brand.

I remember when they were branding very cheap car stereos. When a mid range aftermarket at Best Buy was about 100 bucks, those went for about 30.
The up and down side to recycling these old brands though, people will start to associate it with crap. Might make it cheaper for us, but may also make people more inclined to throw it out.
i think i saw the car "subs" first. i scoffed at them. i knew what was going on.
i'd take an old roadmaster system before a new dual
at least roadmaster was giving you a free tape head cleaner.

When I was a teen and knew nothing about home audio I thought dual just made cheap 6x9’s I could buy at autozone. Still have some autozone dual speakers in one of my cars
