Is this for real?

An old rattle canned console amp with the old aged parts except for maybe a couple of new caps. It's said to be restored and designed by Bob Carver? What's the story with this?

Email Bob and ask him if this is his work or ask the seller for proof in the form of documentation. However, I do have to say by looking at the parts, I kinda doubt it!

Man, is it restored or is it designed by Bob???? I would think Bob would have an avatar with his picture or company logo. I would also think, if it were really Bob, he would have listings for all of the other amps he makes.

If that is really a Bob Carver amp, then I am less than impressed with the workmanship and parts used. I see old carbon comp resistors, cheap original tin-plated RCA input jacks, and cheap ceramic (ugh!) capacitors. For the current bid price, that's way high. I've seen countless examples of better workmanship by AK members.

Nope, that is why I posted this. It looks like shoddy workmanship to me. In fact I restored an old tube amp and in my opinion I did a better job and there are some things that I would do differently if I had to do it over such as replacing the tube sockets, using better wire, etc. At least I put binding posts on it. :scratch2:

The listing also states the output tube screen voltages have been regulated. Anybody see an active regulator component????

And I just totally dig that original 40+ year old electrolytic cap (the big red one) that is still in the amp!
